Lots of overpriced junk grips out there these days. Suddenly, every golfer is a diagnosed arthritic who needs mushy grips in weird colors.

Warm weather means dense cord to me. You could also try some leather grips.

I have had 3 grips disintegrate in my hands this hot summer. They are about ruined. Not cheap grips either. Anyone else have this happen? I dont wear gloves.

Everytime I hear something like that, I have to think it is either sunscreen or bug repellent on the hands that gets on the grips.

What grips were they?

Seriously, have you ever heard of or seen a tour pro have a grip disintegrate?

I've been playing for decades, and NEVER had a grip disintegrate - and that includes the heat and humidity of Florida, and baking temps of West Texas.

I typically change out my grips every spring, and wash my grips every two or three rounds to rid them of the sweat and dirt that can cause them to age prematurely. And I don't store my clubs in the trunk of my car, as heat is no good for the grips either (or the epoxy attaching the clubheads).

So, end of the day, but this seems to be more about what you're doing wrong than it is a grip problem.

Lol. You make it sound like a tour pro is going to go around letting everyone know a grip fell apart on them.

I've been playing "for decades" too, and I have had the occasional grip pull apart or wear in unusual ways. Had a couple melt in the heat when I lived down south. Count yourself fortunate it hasn't happened to you.

Two $10 golf pride grips. And the rubber putter never compromise grip.

No sunscreen on arms or hands. But i did spray bugspray a few times...

Hopefully a whole new setup coming soon!

Mystery solved. You've really got to take care you don't accidentally transfer the spray to the grips. Especially if you use a lot of it. If I use repellent, I make darn sure my hands are clean after and I take care to never touch any area that I've sprayed afterwards (with my hands or the club).

I grew up playing tons of golf (as in, almost daily on the golf course) in Florida and south Georgia and never had a grip disintegrate in my hands. I mostly used tour velvets and tour velvet cords. Because I was cheap I would replace them only when I started to get a significant flat spot where my thumb goes, so I'd put plenty of rounds on my grips.

I could see a grip disintegrating if it is old and dried out and starting to crack, but I can't imagine a fairly new grip doing that. Where did you buy your grips? I recall some threads on here in the past about people buying grips on ebay and ending up with cheap knock offs.

Stored golf bag in the trunk of the car ? You'll basically slow bake the golf equipment inside the trunk during the Summer days, everyday.

Not only bad for the grips, it's also cause epoxy break down and cracked ferrule. ( now with the insertion of multi-material in the heads of woods and irons more stuff that will be damaged from the heat ).

What I'm saying is that it doesn't happen except via User Error.

Grips are not intended to last indefinitely, and when they "pull apart" or begin to "wear in unusual ways" it's a sure sign that they should be replaced, and/or past due being replaced.

Sure it does. I don't see it often, but I have seen it a couple times. By your reasoning, do you think every single grip *ever produced* has not had a defect in it that caused it to fall apart...ever...in the history of golf? Or that all areas of the grip were produced with exact dimensions with even texture?

Don't dig yourself deeper on this. Never doesn't exist. ;)
