Shoes

Recommended Posts

I have an awful time finding shoes that fit (wider forefoot, narrow heel). Blisters have been a chronic issue for as long as I can remember. Last year I resorted to trail running shoes from Saucony as the shoe lasts seem to fit. They were destroyed in a few months.

Then I found Sketchers Go Golf. I have 3 different models and they all fit my feet perfectly. 2 months and not an issue.

The key is to find the shoe that fits YOUR feet.

I am a "shoe guy", have a lot. I spent a lot of years coming off the course with very sore feet.

Some factors will depend on if you need full waterproof, if you have a wide/narrow foot. When you find the right one, stock up.

I have 7 pair of the new Ecco Biom 3 GTX, best fitting golf shoe I have ever worn, good grip, full waterproof. The other shoe that works for me is the Nike FI Premiere from 2016, still have 7 pair, so durable, waterproof, wide toe box.

Ton of great shoes out there, you have to try different ones and find what you like. I love adidas and footjoy other people wont. Doesnt mean i hate the other brand either.

I am looking for some new golf shoes. What does everyone recommend?

I'm a shoe man by trade...sold them for 10 yrs, bought them (retail shoe buyer) for 5 yrs.

That's a tough question because most of the top models from the top brands are pretty good quality. As others have said, at the end of the day it's about fit and comfort.

FJ...good shoes, but not the best fit for me.

Nike...same, but the fore foot area is a bit wide on a lot of them for me. The leather models start to get a little loose and don't hold their shape as well...the athletic type I've fared better with.

Adidas...the Tour 360 Boost just work everytime for me...2.0, etc. doesn't matter, they are all built on the same last. I own 3 pair, all leather. The last 2 pair I bought on closeout with the split toe just as the 2.0s were coming out...less than half of MSRP. Note...the knit upper model with the sock liner...when the price gets under $100 they make sense, but they are best for dry conditions only.

Ecco...own the Cage, and BioM Hybrid...make sure you get the right width, hard to go wrong with this brand. The only downside to Ecco from my experience...pricey, and when you lose a spike, the new spikes don't stay in as well for some reason.

Asics, New Balance...relatively newcomers to the golf shoe market, but both have solid reputations...again it goes back to fit and comfort.

Adidas Tour360 2.0 absolutely fantastic

This, bought 2 pairs, and plan on getting more when the price comes down, these are the best shoes I have worn in a long time.

I've already got 2 pairs and ordered a third pair today for about $109.

I want these, but haven't bought them because of price. Where did you find them for $109?

I was an FJ guy for a long time. I started down the spikeless route before FJ really got in the game and started trying other brands.

I got some Skechers go golf spikeless and they are very comfortable. Walk 18 and keep on if my game would hold up. They clean up nice too since they are smooth leather.

Rock Bottom has the white w/ blue trim on sale for $109.99 now, but the sizes are big. Last week, however, they had the special edition white/silver boost on sale for $109.99. They are $139.99 currently.

I have a couple of pair of FJ DNA's which are great and can be worn with about anything at the course, I also have a couple pair of FJ FreeStyles which are insanely comfy on grass (they are almost too soft on pavement you can feel the spikes a little bit), but their styling isnt quite as easy to match up. I've never had ecco golf shoes but I do have some of their dress shoes and they are amazing, so I would assume the golf shoes follow suit. I've never really been a huge Adidas fan, but with all the good words about them on here I'm going to have to try some on.

As others have said, it all comes down to fit and style...everyone has their own.

Having said that, I was in Roger Dunn yesterday and had 20 minutes to kill while getting some clubs regripped:

1. Footjoy ProSL - seeing as dozens of PGA pros seem to wear these, I figured I'd give them a chance. Were not comfortable...tried wide and regular.

2. Skechers Pro V.3 - very comfortable, but the area around ankle is too high and digs into my ankle bone.

3. Puma Ignite PWR Adapt and Sport...loved the Sport...most comfortable golf shoes I've ever tried on...probably not great support, but bought a pair. Much more comfortable than the Adapt for some reason?

4. Adidas Tour 360 knit - didn't like collar...fairly comfortable. Other tour 360 models all felt too big. Adipower S Boost 3 were great...didn't like style...too busy.

5. Ecco shoes were really comfortable...unfortunately a pair of streets had quality issues and Ecco had some awful customer service...tried multiple channels and supervisors to no avail. So they're out.

Someone else might try on these exact shoes and have totally different opinions...and we would both be right!
