Anyone Playing Honma Irons?

North Texas

Recommended Posts

Have two friends that just started playing them and they absolutely rave about them! One is pretty knowledgeable when it comes to equipment and he said he's never hit anything like them. The other said he's never hit an iron this far. Not sure which model they're hitting but I'm thinking it may be one of the 737's.

I have a buddy that plays them, too. I think the 737V?? Has the Nippon Modus 120 stiff and he kills them, too. Hits them far and you can hear when they are hit well, top quality and really perform. I hit them a couple times in the bay at the store and was really impressed overall.

I play the 727 in pure MB, 5-PW with Modus 125R shafts, leather Gripmaster wraps. This is a smooth combo - just love them!

I've played Mizuno in MBs (still have MP-32), Callaway (my Razr-X MB) and Wilson Staff True Blades. Feel compares favorably, turf interaction only bested by my Callaways.

I had a set of TW737VN's and loved the way they looked, they reminded me of Vapor Pro Combos (one of my favorite sets of all time) from address. The only reason I got rid of them was the feel just wasn't there for me. I know feel is subjective, but they felt hard off the face which I wasn't a fan of. I had the matching TW-W Wedges and they also had the same hard feel off the face. I would have kept them otherwise.

I love my 727. But..

737 price went down the toilet and I think honma made a mistake getting rid of overstock for too cheap.

How cheap are the 737 going for now?

Callaway Epic Flash Subzero Double Diamond Ventus TR Blue 6S tipped 1.5"

Callaway Epic Flash Subzero 15* bonded Ventus TR Blue 7S tipped 1.25"

Callaway Rogue Sub Zero 20* Ventus TR Blue 8S tipped 1.5"

Epon AF Tour 4-PW Modus 105 Stiff

Under $500 brand new still in wrappers.

Where can they be found under $500 aside from ebay?

I also have a few friends playing the TW 737 Irons. The 737p is one of the softest most forgiving and most player full cavity back iron on the market. 737v series are incredibly soft. Amazing feel and performance. What’s crazy is that the vizard graphite shaft is surprising stable. Like recoil. The rest of the line are underrated too. Drivers are awesome classic designs.

arent those the less superior version that was for the US market via big box stores? I believe those for the US market are made in China.

Mostly PING clubs, with TaylorMade woods.

I really don't know much about their irons. My buddies I referenced in my OP have the 737P and they are almost giddy about how good they hit them.

For a little more reference, see Kiwii's post (#13) right above your post.

The PGA Superstore has the 737p's for $700.

I believe the P's are cast. The V, Vn and Vs are forged.

I don't have experience with the irons but recently gave the TW737 FW and UT a try. They were very cheap feeling to me and surprised they were made in China. I eventually stumbled onto the older TW727 line which were made in Japan.
