Build a cult classic JDM bag

Recommended Posts

I've searched the JDM forum and didn't come up with much so if there's already a similar thread, any link would be greatly appreciated... I'm relatively new to JDM products, but reading a similar topic in another forum I was able to learn about a ton of older solid performing USDM clubs. So let's see it. Driver to putter, what would your cult classic JDM bag look like?

What generation Egg? One of the few pieces of jdm equipment I've hit was a spoon hd fairway (2nd or 3rd gen?) It was stupid good and actually a big part of what prompted me to start the topic. I really appreciate everyone's feedback!

egg 18* ?

first version the other versions weren't as good IMO too light and flighty , the 2015/16 MFD version is he best all rouder of them . all but the egg 18 gets my bag spot more often than not excetpt if im playing on a long track,, then go for the 16.5 MFD verson

Maru wedges/ BBD fwds GOOD CALL!

Yamaha iff as well cud be here

jbeam 435 I didn't think it classified as classic ( old enough) yet .

I think Epon 302's hit the mark for cult classic JDM irons.

For classic status, the 302s parent (the 301s) I suppose meets the requirement better... the 301s ( which I have so, yes, I'm biased ;-) ) were actually available before that under the name Technica Pro 1, back in 2004

and for comparison, a completely gratuitous pic of one of my 301s :taunt:

and a special p.s.

while digging around for the photo of the old Technica iron... found out Epon are releasing anew version of the AF-Tour - the blade with the swoosh type channel...

Do most of you guys use Rakuten for used clubs? Also, how are the older S-Yard line of drivers and fairways?

Dude, get the ability to buy on yahoo auction via proxy and you will never look back....so many badass used clubs, so little money

I almost wish I never found yahoo auction.

My classic JDM are mostly centered on irons:

TN87, MS11 - Daiwa Advisor MBs - Tourstage CBs 709, 701 - Taylormade X300 - Maruman Conductor Pro - Yamaha SX25

Looking to try some Mizuno woods MP650

Can't go wrong with Royal Collection. So many great woods from them.

Such a fun topic! Just getting into Bridgestone products and am quickly becoming a big fan. I’m looking into some tourstage irons and wedges to build a bag with some older models and see how they stack up. Looking for compact cb’s. First thought was 701m. What wedge would you match it with? This will be a fun project!

  • 2 weeks later...

For a cult classic set, I would go with one of the Yamaha drivers. For the fairway woods, either PRGR Eggs or G-field. For me there is only one set of irons the Miura forged OnOff 247, unless you had to have blades, which there is only one choice TN-87. Wedges would be Chikara. Putter would be the old G-Field Premium Zone. I wish I didn't sell mine. Other than the Yamaha driver and TN-87 set, I have had all of these in my bag at one point.

I have a set of the Tourstage 701 cbs. They were my first set after using Titleist 990s for, forever. Really great set. Soft, Endo forged, with a little tech built in. Unfortunately they are at my parent's house across the Pacific. Why I ever left them there, I do not know...

The MR-23 US spec CB are really nice too, just haven't gotten along with them.

So much JDM, so little time.

TN-87s and MR-23s were pure. I don’t like the Epon shape but the quality is inarguable.
