Kiawah in July

Recommended Posts

Just came back. I am 51, I would not do 36 in the heat and humidity. Play in the AM if possible. I played Ocean and Cougar enjoyed both thoroughly. Osprey would have been the third choice. Cantina 76 is reasonable at Freshfields for tacos and drinks super casual. If you are staying in a villa, Harris Teeter can get you by on the nights you don't want to pony up for dinners. Unless you are foodies or want to do a tour of Charleston I would just stay at the resort. Take the shuttles to restaurants, probably need reservations this is a busy time.

So not really much to add that wasn't said previously.

I used to Caddie at Ocean. Spent 3 years there. Enjoy the stay!

Ocean Course is def #1. The 2 private tracks are #2 if you can find your way on. From there, I love the Gary Player course, Cougar Point. I would recommend that, then Turtle over Osprey.

Check out Wild Dunes, Rivertowne, and Charleston Nat'l for some non-kiawah public tracks.

Go to King St Grill in Freshfields for a couple brews and a meal. Also, I believe the atlantic room in the clubhouse at the ocean course is still coat and tie for dinner.

got back last week, played 5 straight days. Ocean was favorite, hard not to be because its so iconic, wind was down and shot my second lowest score out of the 5 there which was a shock. Cougar, Osprey, Oak , Turtle last. Next time I would play them all except Turtle. We had a blast, Sanctuary was beautiful actually felt guilty how nice it was and my wife was at home. Next time I would rent a car. We felt a little stuck at the sanctuary. First two nights ate at resort then found a ride to freshfields. The shuttle was too busy to go off site per concierge. Loved Charleston, had drinks and dinner first night there and people were extremely friendly compared to California. If my daughter was in college now the wife and I would be moving there yesterday. She has 4 years of high school left then we can get out of Cali. My new dream is to work at one of the courses so you can play all for free and Ocean course would be 15 dollars. Great retirement gig. Thanks again to all for the information!

Be sure to tip the bag boys if you play and work there. I know when I worked at Kiawah they always said be sure to tip the outside guys. I typically gave them 20-30 or so.
