R540 XD TP?

I need a Taylormade export!

A member at me club has a Left handed R540 XD TP that he wants me to sell for him on eBay. But on the toe it has the word "Titanium" and the TP graphic. All of the ones that I have ever seen do not have the word "Titanium" on it. Should I be worried that this is a fake or should I not be concerned? Sorry, I do not have any pics for you to see of it.

Yeah, this sounds a little fishy.

 

There were no R540XD TP's. There were only R540XD retail (titanium on the toe) and R540 Tour (TP flag on the toe).

 

I've never seen one with both.

Did it have the TXXXX serial number???

Checked w/ my contact at TMAG, there is no record of any such club, and for the record, there is a 540XD TP, I own 3 :) of them and this is the same model that Daly used on tour for quite a bit. For further clarification, there are 540 tours w/ titanium on toe and 540xd TPs w/ TP flag on toe, and a very few 540 tours(non-xd) w/ a TP flag, but the only 540 xd TP w/ both titanium on toe and a TP flag was a fabrication perpetuated by another nameless forum that had them promptly snatched off eBay by TMAG.

I've had two of the R540 DF Protos, with titanium on the toe and no serial numbers, consistant with the R510 DF Protos with titanium on the toe. I've always wondered why this configuration isn't worth more than the R540 XD Tour. Any one?

I am the owner of the 580xd Tp with the titanium and TP logo on the toe of the head... But it has the B over Txxxxx on it is it fake? if so I will get my money back!!!!!

 

hmm, i don't think that's fake,

 

as long as it has the T serial, it should be legit,

 

but i gotta say, NEVER, EVER seen a XD TP's without a TP logo..

HoleInOne18, I think yours is real because it has a tour serial number. But your TP on the toe kind of looked like a sticker compared to Stewart's R510 TP.

If it's got the TXXXX laser engraved serial on the hosel and it doesn't look like someone with an engraver, it's got to be legit. If it's not, someone went to a LOT of trouble to coem up with a forgery (perhaps more than the club's worth).

 

Get some pics up, I'd love to see it.

the tp shield on his is raised.......... is it like that on all tour models because the retail's are pritty even with the clear coat

580XD and 540XD are the same story, no TP released to the public, only Tour. Titanium on the toe is retail.

 

If it's got a .335 tip, it's definately Tour, there were no retail .335's released.

No need, it's tour. There were no .335 retail 580's. If you do hock it on ebay you might want to take a pic of the serial number and point out that the tip's .335.

The scalloping around the sole is another dead giveaway, the retails have a contoured sole, while the tour's don't. Perhaps the fact that it's backwards has something to do with the odd TP logo . . . :)

i guess they DO exsist, but seems like they're extremely rare!

This is perfectly legit. I had seen many R540XD Tours lefty and owned some. If they are 9.0 with smooth weight ports they ARE LEGIT. Some have the BTXXXXXX serials......some do not. I have never seen or herd of an lefty R540XD Tour with a TP logo on the toe. However, I have seen some R580XDs. Bottom line is Smooth weight port + 9.0 loft (retails all came in halfs) = Tour.

I am thinking about picking something up along the 580xd line off of the bay, not tour issue but just something as an alternative to hit.

 

What can be said about how these hit? Are they as solid as everyone says?
