Hawkeye, I avoid this thread to let the lust die down but then I open it and .... wow.

Keep posting. Very interested in your experience.

Thanks and keep opening! It was Peanuts Daddy and a couple others in the classic thread that led me to some old Hogan and MacGregor irons, and somehow I ended up here. The Nicklaus/Don White connection was too much to resist and Ari was terrific.

Recoil 95 F4s - experimented with them in another set of irons instead of usual KBS Tour 90 and like them a lot.

I've noticed this on Dufners clubs & some other club manufacturers have this too. The picture below shows a thicker area back near the hosel. Does this have a performance advantage or just a look preference? I myself don't like the look but was curious.

It's just the high crotch, which is part of the design. Some irons will have a greater decent angle from the toe, or just a lower toe in general, causing a lower crotch area. Other designs might incorporate a dip in the crotch area to reduce the thickness; Steelhead irons come to mind.

Can you give us Dufner's specs on his irons and wedges, lofts particularly? I mean length, lie and loft would be nice, but I'll take what I can get! He is playing very well today!!

Gents...first off Happy Fathers Day to those of you who are. I’ve begun chatting with Ari, about getting process started. I thought I was excited the day I picked up my CTS-V. The car is fun for certain, but I now have that Christmas morning when your 5yrs old feeling in my gut. I’m not sure if I’m more pumped about the sweetness of the clubs, or the chance to bounce ideas off some of the greats in their field. This could go on forever. Let’s just end it with I can’t FREAKIN’ wait.

You will not be dissapointed. Promise you that

Please reveal a bit of procedure and prices, if not a secret.

I sent a note Friday night, hoping to here back this week. I looked at my phone about 30min after the US open ended. Ari had already replied to my questions. This makes me super happy I didn’t order PXGs a month ago. When Ari broke down the procedure my wife had to wipe drool off my chin.

I feel ya on this for sure. This will be my only set out of too many to list purchased this way. The beauty of it is, think of what you liked about every iron you’ve ever hit. Let them know and it will be done that way.

Patrick/Ari, would you mind commenting on the design characteristics of the heads in this pic? I'm trying to understand what each design accomplished for a given player (trajectory, helps with certain type of miss tendencies, etc.). This was done in an earlier post with 3 of the designs, but was hoping to see comments on others you've done.

Starting top left and going down,

1. Reverse muscle. Highest COG. Lowest ball flight.

2. Diamond back. High COG but not as high as Reverse. Lots of weight centered behind sweet spot. Extra solid feel.

3. Toe weighted. Lower COG (can modify COG higher or lower) weight moved out to toe. Slight fade bias.

4. Half diamond. Low to mid COG. Lots of weight behind sweet spot.

Column on the right starting at the top and going down.

5. Mid COG Double muscle. Can also be made high COG or low COG. Low COG version has a little heel/toe weighting.

6. Classic muscle. Mid COG, more standard weighted blade design.

7. Heel weighted. Low/mid COG. Weight shifted to the heel. Slight draw bias.

8. Low COG, Heel/Toe weighted muscle. Higher ball flight and extra forgiveness in a muscle back design.

That's really helpful. One of the things about getting clubs built is I finally need to really understand what I like and why...I mean, the aesthetics are beyond great, but the truth is, I'd also want the set to perform at a level equal to the aesthetics (for my skill level and swing, etc).

Is there any cavity back offerings? My current setup since 2012 is a DW Grind EZ 3-5 AR 6-7 SB 8-pw 53 and 58. I would like a refresher but don't think i could do a full muscle back set.

Any insight?

Thanks

I ordered the EZs. I’m not sure if they hold them in stock, but I did order a set about a year ago.

Hope you get what you’re looking for!

mb,

enough to get me excited. Trying to finalize a set configuration in my mind before I hear from Patrick. I believe you've carried the 'EZ' headshape in the past. Could you comment on their playability and feel? I'm leaning toward this head in my mid/long irons.

Thank you for taking the time to post the pictures. Safe travels.

Mike.

Super cool 3 club short set.

Incredible! Love the idea too, it would be a lot of fun to play golf with that set! I feel like I need one now, thanks a lot ;)

Curious what the lofts are if that is something you can share?

20*/37.5*/43*

Really fun to create shots and play w a short set like that especially on a firm and fast course.

Do you guys ever do sets like this anymore?

There isn’t a shot I don’t feel comfortable making. If I need to bend it around a tree, get it high or low, I know I can do it. I can hit a stinger 4 iron on or off the tee, or a baby draw approach. Before the last couple of DW sets I used AP2s pretty exclusively and I knew what I could and couldn’t do with them, but I never felt totally confident. A lot of the lack of confidence was probably driven by my ignorance about club building. Confidence is not something missing with my last couple of sets probably because Patrick listens to what your swing is like and translates that to the many factors of what your clubs should be. These clubs create a versatility that not many producers can replicate.

Good luck with your order!

Wow! Not sure how I've only just noticed this. Congrats on the new venture all.

Ari, I played your AR1s and wedges a while back. I've seen a Lot of great looking blades. Have you got more pics of your players cavity backs? Also, what finish options do you have and do you offer only Straight necks or have slight offset options as well? Not looking at shovel like offsets.

Finally s20 or s25 or? Can you share forging house? Kyoei?

These could be what brings me back from JDM.

Finished pics of new CB.

We can facilitate just about any finish that our clients want for their project but most of the heads we make are raw.

The clubs can be made with literally any amount of offset that the client wants and are hand ground to exact specs, shape, grind topline etc. Just about anything you want we can do, especially with a MB.
