You could save hundreds of dollars and pick up the current M4 D-Type and have the same club. The Gloire also looks to have a fixed hosel which would be a real pain to reshaft given how short it is and how much white paint is around it. You also won't gain anything by having a "forged" twist face. The JDM market just loves the word forged so companies have to forge everything to make it appealing.

Japanese clubs tend to be more draw biased and have very long and softer shafts than the US market.

since TM can't help themselves in releasing a club every 6 months.

I've never understood this criticism.

2016 Had the M1/M2 drivers/woods/hybrids.

2017 had the updated M1/M2 drivers/woods/hybrids.

2018 has the M3/M4 drivers/woods/hybrids.

Seems like they're on a "1 Family of clubs per year" schedule that almost every other company is on.

And at the same time Cally gets away with having a dozen irons out, 2 lines of wedges, 2 drivers with 5 heads total and 6 hybrids...

People are still hung up on the TaylorMade of old. This isn't Mark Kings TaylorMade anymore. Their release cycles are actually very reasonable now.

To my eyes that driver look to be way deeper a face than the M3/M4.

From what I have read; It's a Japan only release but interesting none the least. I wouldn't doubt it coming to market in the US since TM can't help themselves in releasing a club every 6 months.

I wonder if the forged twist face actually helps anything?

Seriously. Enough already with this tired old drivel. It's not funny and doesn't line up with the reality of the TaylorMade release schedule as of late.

With regard to the club it self, the Gloire line has been around in Japan for a while and features differences like what you see here, e.g., a forged face. These Japan only clubs aren't all that interesting as it relates to the US market, because they don't make it over here.

That's not true. Lots of the premium Japanese drivers have a forged cup face. The cup face is springier across the whole face. It costs more to make a cup face so they don't bring it over here.

While a lot of JDM drivers do offer a forged cup face, nothing here says that it's a cup face construction. The face could be forged and then welded into the club which is what TM does for all of their drivers. To my knowledge they have never offered a cup faced design on ANY of their clubs either US market or JDM. It's likely the twist face here in the US is also forged and then welded but they don't have to put the word "forged" on the face because the US market doesn't have to see it in order to express interest.

These Gloire Drivers are very expensive. I have one, it hits just fine. To me, Taylormade used different technologies in the Japan market and it just a difference is taste. I have the Gloire Reserve model that has a composite plastic material for the face, and it hits just as well as any other driver that i have had for the U.S. market. Very cool looking drivers though

The Gloire line first appeared around the time of the R11s if memory serves - but it's been at least 6 years minimum. If none of the previous Gloire models ever made it to the US, why would you think this one would be any different?
