I have the identical setup that you are considering - 54 and 58 in the WRX "T" grind (except I didn't bend my sand wedge).

I personally think they are worlds better than anything that Ping has produced to date. Good from the fairway if you can dial in the right bounce for your playing conditions and great precision around the greens. These don't spin as much as the Vokey Spin Milled or RAC Y-Cutters. But, that much spin is highly over rated IMHO. On full shots, the Pings stop the ball dead. And on chips, I'm just as happy running my ball to the hole since I can place it exactly where it needs to be on the green or off.

Also, the "T" grind is definately worth the added cost. You can open the face without worrying about chunking the shot (even on tighter lies). I've found myself getting much more creative as a result. :golfer:

The tours do have more bounce than most. But, they have a low bounce wedge in both the 58 and 60 degree (8 degrees).

thanks for the review. do the pings fly about the distance you typically expect for a 54 and 58? do they fly similarly trajectory-wise to, say, the vokey's/tm's/others ... or does that weight plug down low cause a high flight?

when they do the grind i assume they leave the finish in a raw state ... do the grinded areas then rust (not that that bothers me as i've had chrome wedges ground before)?

I have the 50, 54, 58 in Black Nickel - great, versatile, wedges - set up is Z-Z65 Softstepped once with Cushin at D5, D7, D6, +1/2 inch and blue code.

The 50 has a nice grind on it already, the 54 is great from the bunkers and everywhere else - the bounce doesn't affect its playability, the 58 Low Bounce is great everywhere - I had Ping just do a Trailing Edge Grind on it as I thought the heel grind on the 58 LB was already fairly significant.

Fairly soft feel - softer than some forgings I've owned.

Just a very surprising, versatile set that does everything well if you set them up for your swing.

... cool. how would you rate the trajectory (height-wise) vis-a-vis other wedges? do the ground areas (wrx) rust over time (i assume they don't refinish after grinding)?

I've had them in my bag for about a year and they aren't going anywhere. The only time I've had any issues with trajectory being to high is when I really try and step on them with a full swing, I play the 54 and 58 and I have no problem varying the trajectory and I feel they spin as well as any wedge on the market.

Hi Mike - if you get the grind done after you buy them, they don't refinish but it doesn't rust - fades into the black nickel just fine - just clean and dry after the round.

Trajectory is a tad lower than other typical wedges I've used and they feel softer than forgings with the Cushin - they blew me away - for me, they're that good. I was hitting the Miura 50 wedge/Nippon side by side with the Pings. The Pings had the softer feel.
