Well... here it is.

 

My gamer for years is a Scotty Cameron 009. The bumpers on it looked as if they were wax and you put a flame to is real quick... they soften the outside bumpers a lot. i love that look next to the more squared off lines in the front of the putter.

 

Haven't put it in play yet. Feels so good and looks fantastic. Another member "Boomer" the other day rolled a few and was really impressed and he is a putter aficionado. Here are my notes...

Sharp looking putter!! What's the headweight with the 25g weights installed?

 

Edit : Agree with the other on the sharpness of the toe. Almost appears out of place compared to the rounding of the heel sections.

I think the Artisan looks better than the Scotty in all aspects except high on the toe, it just seems too sharp for the smoothness/roundness of that model.

Exactly what my thought was. If they rolled off that sharp corner on the toe just a bit, it’d be perfect. Though I’m sure it would be easy to adapt to the look quickly.

The higher toe has a functional purpose. In their opinion one of the reasons most people sole the putter toe up is when it's level it doesn't look level. Toe up looks level to most people. By giving it a higher toe it encourages people to sole the outternout more level.

the tech behind the putter is awesome but still a classic shape. Watch the GolfWrx vids on Artisan.

 

So interesting going through the fitting how all the adaptions they can make change the feel.

 

I was there 11.30 till 16.00 and loved every moment of the putter experience. fingers crossed I get my putter this week.

Really like the black ox finish. Reminds me of the TP Mills black ox, just that nice deep dark but glossy black ox. Without a doubt the best finish to go on a carbon putter IHMO.

I've been looking at their putters for ages and emailing asking questions. You know me though...I've got twelve ideas and the need for no more putters than you need any! I've been really considering their mid slant neck but can't decide which head or finish or stampings! Congratulations and let me know how the new baby is! :drinks:

Call me crazy, but I'm just not into the look of these. I like the milling and how they stamp the model on the toe, but the shape doesn't do it for me.

i agree - i can't put my finger on it but, something about them just is 'off' to me.

 

*edit* figured it out -- while the cavity is very rounded and pleasing to the eye, from the face view it looks boxy/squared off quite a bit.

The headcover on the other hand...absolutely atrocious in my eyes. I could see the handmade aspect of it, but it just looks shoddy.

They have multiple models of headcovers. Those are made as a western design, but they have more traditional options through Best Grips and they look sharp.

I really like how the bumpers and flange flow on this putter. Personally the way bumpers are shaped are what spark my interest in an Anser/Newport style head. That's why I like the 009 shape, DH89 with the extra smoothing of the bumpers. Also the shaping of the heal when there's no small angles just a smooth rounded heal shaping.

 

Is this Artisan putter thinner (face to back) than a 009, DH89? Maybe its the pics but it look a bit narrower than most.

the are narrower than my previous Nike putters, no idea compared to a 009.

 

John said it is all to do with placement of the centre of gravity in the head. John certainly talks through the putters very well in person but you can see it on the GolfWrx videos they did.

 

My putter gets shipped out today, can do comparison to my Nike when it arrives.
