I have never been there, but I'm going at the end of summer with my family. I will be playing rounds at Port Royal and Turtle Hill. My parents go nearly every year, and this is their take...

All golf is pretty expensive on Bermuda. If you're trying to go cheap, don't bother taking your clubs. The nicest and most expensive is The Mid Ocean Club ($200+). Port Royal is also nice, and used to host a PGA event, but unfortunately, it is not as nice as it once was. It is still expensive ($100-200). There is also the par 3 course, The Turtle Hill Golf Club. The par 3 is my parents favorite to play, but it is also expensive for a par 3 ($75-100). You will have beautiful views at all three.

I'm looking forward to making my trip, I hope you enjoy yours. Please report back if you choose to play and give a quick review!

Resurrecting this thread! I'm going in August on a cruise out of NY.  Will be playing with my son and can probably only manage one round.  Was thinking Port Royal because of positive feedback and proximity to cruise port.  Mid Ocean looks good too but too far from the ship, I will eventually need to meet back up with my wife so trying to be efficient.

Any thoughts from those of you that went and played?

Sorry as I should have been reading this.  My company is based in Bermuda so I spend a lot of time there and am a member at one of the clubs.

Mid O-  Best course and best conditioning with some great holes.  The cape hole is classic.   Good CB McDonald track.

Port Royal-  This is the best course and in my top 3 all time with Pinehurst #2 and Carnoustie.  However it is a public course, so the conditions slip.  Best played Sept thru December when the PGA event is held and they get the course in shape.  Can be tough April thru June

Tuckers Point-  Very tricky course with the best views of any course.  Some real trick holes and blind tee shots but worth it.

Turtle Hill- Great Par 3 course, a blast to play.  Near Horseshoe beach.

Belmont Hills-  short and narrow older course.

Five Forts- Temporary closed, executive course in St George’s.  It is good to play if you have high handicap golfers.

Oceanview-  9 holes mostly a local track.  Does not have much ocean view.

Going on a cruise this summer, did you play Port Royal? It seems to be a short taxi cab drive from the Naval dockyard port.

We played on departure day so we played early early morning.  The taxi ride is about 10-15 minutes. The course was beautiful, especially the back 9 by the water.  Not a ton of services, there is a range and a small snack shack, not sure what else you need though.  I would recommend.

I played both Port Royal and Mid-Ocean this past fall. Mid Ocean is a very nice club, but I didn't love the golf course. Port Royal, on the other hand, was an absolute joy to play, and easily had some of the best views on the island. Everyone from the pro shop to the restaurant were just as nice and helpful as they could be. I played it about two weeks before the Butterfield, so it was in AMAZING shape. Don't miss the opportunity if you go.

FWIW, it looked like they had lots of sets of rental clubs, and they appeared to be in great condition. Definitely call first, but that would likely be an option if you can't travel with your clubs.

Edited to add: They did have a cart lady while I was there, but I was on 14 or so before I saw her. Not at all an issue from my standpoint (you pass the snack shack both when you start and at the turn).
