Hi, travelling to Malaysia on holiday next month for a week or so in each of Kuala Lumpur and Langkawi.

Would appreciate any insight into courses to play and links to any decent golf gear shopping in either location.

In KL I would recommend the following courses:
    • Saujana (both courses but Palm is more challenging)
    • KLGCC (Both courses)
    • Kota Permai
    • The Mines

I live in KL so please feel free to ask if there is anything else.

I've played both KLGCC & Saujana - both very nice, 1st class operations. Caddies, etc...just be prepared for the heat!

Hi all....I'm travelling solo to KL for a few days 25-28 Aug next month and need a golf buddy for a couple of rounds because apparently it's really hard to join up with other groups

I'm hoping to play TPC West (or East) so if anybody is keen i'd really appreciate it if you let me join your group

in return, i have reciprocal rights to Royal Selangor so i can bring anybody along with me if they're happy to pay guest rates.....

I went to Singapore, Bintan and Langkawi about 3 years ago. Els club in Langkawi is a good course, despite not having a single bunker. It's not too difficult. Depending on where you stay, it's on the other side of the island most likely. We stayed at the Andaman which is literally next door (definitely recommend), so I played it 3 times. Each time, I was the only person on the course (that I saw). It was about $180 AUD when I went there, but got the replay rates for $80 AUD.

There was another club on the island called 99 east but this was under construction when I went there. I think there is one other course on the island as well, but we were only there for 4 days and without a car it was difficult to get around. Make sure you hire a car there, it's so cheap, wish we did this in hindsight.

See my post above (from 2014) - if you want to play where the pros play (both PGA & LPGA) - its the old KLGCC...now TPC KL

I played Titiwangsta as it was difficult to get on to the better courses.

Now I know why it was easy at Titiwangsta.

    Avoid!!!!!!

Good courses mentioned so far. Another to add is Templer Park. Amazing rock formations on the hills surrounding the course. Check it out!

The Ernie Els course on Langkawi was beautiful. I only hit some balls at the driving range, but wish I could have played. In KL, it's tough to play golf as a single. I managed to play a round in Cameron Highlands, which was just OK as well as Malacca, which was also OK. Neither could compare to Sentosa in Singapore.
