Ping i500 feedback

So played my 1st round with i500 today. Hit ball okay, irons felt okay 4-9. Ball flight little higher with DG105 S300 vs my recoil F4 110’s in the ie1, but that was ok. For some reason I was having a very tough time with the pitching wedge ball flight. The ball went up in the air and almost falls out it sky. Happened 4 times. Had stock 120-125 pw shot from fairway and each one fell out of sky and only went 115-117 yards. I had similar issue with the glide wedges a few years back. Hated the flight. Any thoughts?

Didn't see that. If anything I was bombing wedges. Shaft problem perhaps? Doesn't really make sense with the wedge only. Or SW? Seems odd though.

How were they compared to the iE1 forgiveness wise?

Similar forgiveness, but much harsher feel in my opinion. Clicked as well. Jury still out, but after one round the I am not sold in the i500 yet. Hopefully get some practice in this weekend.

What is the main cause for lack of spin? Shaft?

More like too much spin if the ball is flying high and going short. First thing is to get the loft checked, and consider strengthening 1.5 degrees to see if that helps.

I picked mine up last week and played one round. Definitely the PW. I have had a couple of range sessions but hard to tell with range balls. Hope to get back out today. I had the 700 which I know is much more game improvement with the AWT shaft. Loved the clubs but they were just big. I did not have any issues though with flight trajectory or distance between irons. With the 500, the PW and 8 don't have the same jump. It could be the shaft-DG 105-that I am not used to. They were also a little light.

I just got back from range. Hit my old ie1 with recoil 110 vs i500 w/ dg105 to compare. Was really shocked to see how much further the ie1 was going. At least a half club difference, maybe a full club with wedge. The ball jumped off face with ie1, but kind of thud off of i500. I would have expected the opposite results. Overall dispersion was a little better with ie1 as well. As much as I LOVE the looks of i500, the results haven’t been there.

Hit both i210 and i500 against current iE1. Tried different shafts to compare to my clubs (KBS Tour 90 stiff) but no noticeable difference. Fitter agreed. Sticking with iE1's.

I tried them at Austad's and they were really easy to hit and I really liked the Project X LZ shaft that was in them.

Went to a recent club fitting at Ping’s outdoor facility at Kierland in Scottsdale. Hit the i500, i210 against my current i25. I liked the i500 the best. I have KBS Tour stiff in my i25 and that is what I hit best with the i500. Second best was the Project X LZ 6.0. I hit the I500 straighter and longer than my i25 and the i210. I went to the fitting thinking I would order the i210 realizing they would give me more precise gapping. I could care less about hitting them longer as I don’t need any more distance out of my irons. I just really like the I500. I ordered the I500 with the KBS Tour S shaft. Will see soon how they play on the course.

same here, Imho, my ie1’s feel softer, sound better, and more forgiving.

Well since this turned into an iE1 love fest, I'm just here to say...I have a great set on the BST right now I'm anxious to rid myself of, so if any of you want to buy them to run your own comparison against the 500s or any other set, I'm your huckleberry. Motivated to move em.
