Jack pot Johnny red headcover

I bought a putter recently that supposedly came from a former pga player. It came with what appears to be a red jackpot Johnny Cameron headcover. It looks very nice, very nicely made. On the side it says custom shop but doesn't say scottys like what's on the Cameron website. Anyone know if this is real or something special or some fake? It's made so nice it sure seems real.

Nope, not touchy at all. Just not the type that likes to kick someone when they’re already down. Just don’t see the point, that’s all.

 

Seems to me that the point of the forum is to get opinions from others on legitimacy off gear, but I’m probably wrong. It’s apparently for people like you and others to make them feel worse than they already do. Really great way to encourage people to come for help.

You must not spend very much time here or you’d know that “I got it from someone that knows a tour player”, or “my buddy bought it from a guy that used to play on the Web.com” and many others, are quotes that show up here CONSTANTLY and ones that scammers love to use to sell fake crap at prices that should be waving a GIANT red flag in your face.

 

Just a couple weeks ago someone posted a Craig’s list ad for a “Tour rat” putter for $300. It was a “gift from a former tour player”. These fakes have been showing up everywhere on line. Fake as can be and the sellers are trying to pass them off as $2000+ putters.

 

Do you really think you are getting a Cameron Tour for $300?? If you do you are a very foolish person and are quite ripe to get ripped off.

 

The point here is very simple. If your putter came with a fake head cover and a fake backstory there is a very high likelihood your putter is fake as well.

The point is, it’s easy enough to answer the guy’s question with a simple “Sorry buddy, but it’s a fake, and here’s why..” then state the reasons why. How hard is that? Why must some folks demean someone to the point where the guy probably never wants to post again? Does that make them feel big and tough?

 

It’s a great looking cover, but it’s fake. Maybe the putter s as well, but he didn’t ask about the putter, yet some want to see it as well. Why? So you can make him feel even worse?

 

It’s a serious question, because it seems like that’s where these kind of threads tend to go, and sadly, they’re usually the most active threads. I doubt many if any of you would do it to the guy in person, but safely behind your screen and basically anonymous, the worst comes out in many.

Maybe it's to help the guy out, to let him know that not only he should be questioning the headcover but also the putter. That way he can use that info to go back to the seller and see what the deal is. I mean, if he thinks that cover is possibly real, then he might need said help.

I know very well what jackpot johnny headcover looks like. Yes it looks to be a copy, but to be a fake, it has to actually trying to be something else. Without the name Scotty on it, it's just another headcover that has copies of someone else's design, an imitation\knockoff at best.

It actually appears to be decent quality regardless of what it is or isn’t. Stitching seems tight and well done. There are no connection stitches between the letters of “custom shop” like most fakes. I’d throw it on a putter knowing full well that 99% of the people who saw it wouldn’t know if it were real or not.

Hey that looks just like my fake! I'd bet it came from the same exact seller where I purchased mine a year or two ago. They ended up getting shut down on eBay but I got this one right before that happened. I'm also willing to bet I saw the OP's putter listed on eBay last week (click here). Seller claimed it was purchased from a 7-time PGA tour winner. Curious what 7-time PGA tour winner needs to sell an old used Cameron for a couple hundred bucks. He didn't claim the head cover was authentic in the ad, though.

I bought the same headcover on eBay couple of years ago. It had Scotty custom shop on it so I bought another one in the lime green color, but that one just had custom shop on it. Totally fake, but only paid 10 dollars per putter cover. After a few rounds the f-leather will start to peal and crack

You forgot to mention the 'here's why'... but great point though. Then again, there are hundreds of threads about buying fake covers and how to avoid it. Robbing someone is illegal, but if you're strolling about everyday in east brooklyn at 3am with your (ogio) silencer, what do you expect?
