Shot Scope V2 - GPS Watch with Tracking

Recommended Posts

I think I am going to pull the trigger on this. I was waiting to see about gamegolf but who knows when the will release. The Shotscope also seems to be the most accurate for putting stats and I could really analyze that part of my game. I guess a little dissapointed that it does not offer a strokes gained analysis to point me to what part of my game needs fixing.

Considering taking the data from the website and entering into Shot by Shot or Golfmetrics. Anyone have any experience with these tools?

They use what they call, shots to finish. This is very seminar analytic which allows you to compare different clubs to see where you perform best/worst for different distances, lies, and pitching/chipping. With this data, no need for strokes gained IMO.

Anyone have any luck playing 36 on a single charge? I get out for a full day of golf one day every other week so this probably wouldn't work if it only last 27 holes.

Yeah that $190 deal is what has me considering it but if it doesn't last 2 rounds in a day it wouldn't make the cut for me.

My wife got me a Shot Scope V2 for Father's Day! Excited to try it out. Unfortunately, the course I'm playing at tomorrow isn't mapped. :(

I did send an email to support to request it be mapped but highly doubt that will happen before 9AM tomorrow.

I will say I'm very impressed with their responsiveness to course mapping. I sent an email yesterday after I got my watch from my wife and they had my course loaded just in time for my 9AM tee time. It helps with them being over in Scotland as it stated their office hours were something like 9-5:30 GMT. So they got my update done in maybe 4 hours or so.

One issue that came up for me was putting off the green. I didn't realize I should count them as putts when it asks how many putts I had. I had to do quite a bit of editing and it was difficult since I played 36 holes today...I don't have that great of a memory for 7 hours of golf lol. I will have to test it next time but do most of you record all putts with the putter regardless of where the ball is? I was afraid it would count it as a green in regulation when I go by the actual stat that requires the ball to be on the green for that.

Also, we played as a threesome in just over 4 hours the first round and then a twosome in around 2:45 and the watch had 8% left. Not bad, but it will be nice to get that extra hour with a firmware update I read about. I did play the second round in PRO mode so that the GPS didn't show on the screen. Not sure if that saved any battery but the carts at the course we played had very accurate GPS.

Overall I'd say I'm somewhat pleased so far but hoping the putting tracking works better next time.

Been using mine for about a month now.

I love the stats (especially the longest drive at 298 yards which is 20-30 past my partners hehe)

Yes, it's chunky but not obtrusively and it's not really that noticable. Once you get in the habit of recording putts it's pretty much non-interfering. It's a golf device - it counts pars, not bars and it's not for wearing on a night out

Yardages are accurate from what I can tell.

Only downsides are yes, the battery. Not sure I could get 2 Sunday rounds in (though that's because they're becoming 5 hour affairs)

I can't see me very often doing 2 rounds a day but it would be nice to have more than 30% left, just in case.

I nearly bought a Garmin S60 but this was half the price and you get so much more info.

I've not had any issues with satellites, syncing and such like. The tech seems to work without fault.

Overall very pleased!

The recent updates have made it possible to get 36 holes in on one charge for me. I played 36 last Monday and the first round was about 3:20 and the second was about 4:20. When I got home after syncing and all I had about 3% left. Pretty happy with that. Obviously it's probably not going to hold up if you have two 4.5 hour rounds in a day but that never happens for me.

I am finding I still have to make some edits after every round. I wish I didn't have to make it, but overall it's fairly minimal and the benefits are outweighing any negatives for me. Pretty happy with the watch so far. Also, I played in tournament and was told it was perfectly legal as long as it didn't provide advice other than GPS distances.

Agreed. The auto power off has made a big difference to me. I haven't played more than 18 holes yet but it seems to be around 65% battery when I plug it back in which is a significant improvement...

I didn't even know there was an auto power off. I always turn my watch off right after the round is over and I've synced it to my phone.

My biggest problem has been the hardware itself. It's so big and bulky that it actually annoys me when I'm playing, and the strap is very poor quality. And it is the slowest charging gadget of any kind, ever. Literally takes hours to charge up.

The stats are pretty good, although I've had a couple of issues with it not following me on the correct holes, and for some reason it keeps recording driver swings when I haven't gone anywhere near the driver.

Do you have the driver tag problem on the same hole at the same course? I had this problem on a par 3 at my home course and it was a course setup issue. I emailed support and they fixed it quickly.

I agree, when I wear it, I feel like I'm wearing an old calculator watch. I don't know why it's so big and bulky given the screen is so small.

I don't think so, since it was during a 2 week stint where I played a different course every day. Of course it might be the same problem on both.

Has to be worn on your wrist and has to be pretty close to the club tags on the end of the club.
