Brooks might have an entirely different reason than what Shipnuck laid out.

 

Still, Ship seems pretty well respected, and Brooks seems kind of churlish, so the story "feels" right.

 

The tap-in on 18 was pretty funny yesterday, TBH. The TV crew didn't really know how to handle it.

 

I agree, but that's what journalists do. Outside of giving Brooks some column space to write his own op-ed as to why he's upset, it's not possible for Shipnuk to give anything but his interpretation of the events. But there's nothing wrong with that as long as it's a well founded interpretation. The only other additional thing he could have done is directly asked "Brooks, I know you just tried to kick me out, but can you give me a quote on your side of the story why you hate me right now to make sure I have it right?" I doubt that's getting answered.

 

The one thing I'll definitely concede is that the media (and the fans!) don't seem to like these guys that are great golfers but don't have much of a superstar persona. They love the guys that are marketable for the same reasons the equipment and apparel companies like them. In addition to the golf talent, they want guys that make for interesting stories outside of just golf. There are some incredible golfers that don't fit that mold. The most interesting extra thing they have on BK is that he works out a lot. It's the same with DJ, I think. There's just not that much interesting to them outside of their golfing ability. Which is FINE! I'm gonna sit back and enjoy them playing as much as I can.

I'm totally on board with separating the player from the person. Meaning: I can be perfectly content watching Bubba Watson play golf all day long and it doesn't matter how badly I want to punch him in the face due to how he acts. I just want him to finish 2nd at best. DJ might be a big dummy, but he's fun to watch play. Obviously Tiger has his past, but I still love him. Brooks definitely has this chip on his shoulder and it all makes sense why. It kind of makes you wonder how this past year would have played out if he did get the attention that the other big stars receive. Would he have still won two majors? Or did the perceived slights motivate him to another level?

 

For the most part, to me, these are all just "characters" in the show (pro golf) I watch. We all have our favorites and most hated. I only legit hate one golfer and his name is Billy Horschel.

He wasn't feeling great about his game, having not played for a month until the Hive event. I said, there are only 2 things other people care about on the course. 1: don't play slow. 2: don't be an a-hole. We've all played like crap on the course, but nobody else really cares about that. So he agreed to go play.

Oh, one more thought about playing Falls Road. I've played with zillions of randos out there, and hardly ever do I play with anyone that would make me look like a crappy golfer. That's the complete opposite if playing with Hive folks, of course. So I don't know why my son was worried about embarrassing himself.

 

My wife has said when she goes out there as a single, the randos are often complete hackers compare to her. She's pretty good about making decent contact and advancing the ball, but she ain't shootin' no low scores.

Im honor of Tommy, I putted with a claw grip on Saturday. First round, with two days of practice inside. I just hadnt been starting my putts on line, and needed a change.

 

Worked pretty well. My lines and roll were better than I can recall this year. My distance on long putts wasnt good, so I had a few 3 putts. But thats to be expected since its so different. Overall I was rolling it really nice. Made more than my fair share of 6-10 footers, and a couple of longer ones.

Can’t stop laughing at these comments about lil Chen joining. After playing with lil Chen on Saturday I have no doubt he has the game and more importantly the mental fortitude to withstand a hive membership. He fits in very well and I had a great time which is why I suggested he join. I also think all of us can and should use this opportunity to teach a younger guy the finer points about the game which will serve him well as he competes on higher levels of competition (high school, etc).

Also spent 4 hours on electrical work today. The original outlet was now behind the stove since we moved it over 15 inches so I split the line putting a new GFCI on each side of the stove. I also ran a new line from the panel to the microwave. Don’t know how people do this for a living. I am exhausted. I am made for a desk job. Backsplash and door handles next.
