Hmm, with the spin so much lower on the i500, Id probably want a steeper land angle than that, if land angle was similar Id say 790's take it.

i would wait and see what tm's 760 looks like from what i heard from tm the long irons down to 6 maybe 7 will be a cleaned up 790 with foam fill etc but less offset and thinner top line and shorter blade length transitioning to a 750 type for the scoring weapons sounds like it might be worth a look

Update. After extensive side by side testing of going to roger dunn for several weeks. I decided to keep the p790 in the bag. Feel is much better imo and performance is as well. Thanks all

I am thinking of doing the Opposite, switching from i500 with Modus 105 to P790......i500 just feel hollow and sometimes don't even sound like an iron, although I like the no offset of the i500

I have the P790s and love them but I would hit both off grass and see which one works better.

The wrong place to decide is in a golf store on a mat and a simulator. You must hit the i500 off grass with a quality ball and you will get the see the real club....and it's a beauty. IMO, it's a beautiful shape and scale and looks just like a players MB or CB at address. It's super easy to hit and the feel is no issue whatsoever if you tend to hit the middle of the clubface. I have plenty of other issues, but I do tend to hit the center of the club on at least 90% of my shots and it's great for any player who does that. If you do, the i500 feels as good as any club on the market. It's the misses that sound and feel a little clanky....but MUCH less so with a good ball.

790 is more of a distance iron ...i500 with retro lofts just is not . i 500 has lower ( nearly no ) offset , and is thinner overall than the 790. No contest for me . I500

So i went back and tested 7 to 7 and reall battled it out.

 

P790 5500 spin 172 carry

I500 4200 spin 167 carry

 

 

Of center i500 was def harsher

Higher spin AND longer carry? That seems like an easy decision.
