Golf Membership Chicago northwest Suburbs

Recommended Posts

I am currently living in the Northwest Suburbs of Chicago in the Glendale Heights area. I am highly interested in getting a membership at a club so I can start playing golf more regularly. I was interested and seeing if anyone had any leads on good deals for either a public, semi private, or private membership. Ideally looking for a course with a range and a good practice area for chipping and putting.

I know about the good deals at clubs in the south suburbs but those are about a 45-50 min drive and would only really be able to get to those on the weekends. I would ideally like something in my area.

Thank you

I was previously a member at Hawthorn Woods. Very nice club, great course, and a good mix in the membership. If you are interested, shoot me a private message as I think they still have a good referral program that benefits the new member and a current member. I can put you in touch with a current member that can help both save some bucks.

BTW what is your budget as that will factor in for that area most definitely.

Definitely on the lower end. I am currently looking at Itasca CC but there is a wait list for full golf membership. The Head pro did seem to believe that there would be availability to join in april/may but I take that with a grain of salt.

Join as a social member there and see how you like it, which should come with maybe 5-10 rounds of golf. Great way to try out a club IMO. This also gives you dibs on upgrading when the waitlist opens up. Check into that and see if that is a possibility. Itasca is a pretty laid back place. It won't be full and I would certainly see you finding a spot before spring.

Save your money and get a national membership at Marquette gc (Greywalls). Fly up there 3 times a year and you will have enough money left over to get a boat and play at a better track too.

18

Itasca is conveniently located and will allow me to get 9 in most nights during the week and 18 to 36 on Saturdays and Sundays. Its 15 mins from office on the way home and 20 mins from the house. My goal is to play a lot of golf so I want a club that is close that I can get to after work. Not fly to one 3 times a year to play a few times.

1. are you serious?

2. why this course?

Greywalls is 6th best course in MI imo. Daily fights from Chicago, 1hr. $525 a year for National membership with 2 courses (9 Langford holes), best deal in the country. Very cool town Marquette is, wants to keep low profile and not become Traverse city. Easy drive from Chicago. Perfect summer weather. Greywalls is the 9th wonder.

join both. Everyone needs a summer club

To get on the wait list you have to join as a social member. They are running a deal right now where it is $295 for the rest of the year and that includes 5 rounds of golf. That gives me a few months to see if I like the facility and the amenities so I am most likely going to do that.

Cool, just as I thought.... so there you go.... that is very reasonable.

jrsull did you ever pull the trigger on Itasca CC social membership? If you’re still in the market, have you looked at Old Wayne? It’s definitely on the lower end (something like $300 annual + $16 per round played).

The courses are pretty plain, and it’s golf only. But, it’s a great price for this area.

How old are you? Naperville CC has a great deal for under 40. If I planned on living here longer I would have already joined. Have some friends that belong there and love it. Nothing fancy, but gets the job done and is in good shape.
