G/Fore golf shoes

Recommended Posts

I've been interested in the shoes for a while... Guess I'll have to pull the trigger.

Any comments on the gloves? They look great... just wondering how well they hold up?

I just got a pair of Brogue Gallivanters. Simply put they are the best golf shoes I've ever owned and its really not even close. I took the paper wad out of them and put them on for the first time... Walked 18 holes and had no problems at all. No blisters, no achy feet, nothing. I've never ever had a pair of golf shoes feel so comfortable right out of the box. The quality is second to none as well.

The traction is also excellent. I absolutely cannot play in spikeless shoes and I had absolutely no problem in the G/Fores. I'll be buying another pair.

Side question... Are you all utilizing shoe trees?

I use shoe trees in every good pair of golf shoes I own (DryJoys, Icons, and G/Fore). Will definitely help them hold their shape and last longer.

I wore my Brogue Gallivanter shoes for the first time today. Link (Peter Millar and G/Fore collab): https://www.petermillar.com/products/MF18EF02A/Brogue-Gallivanter-Golf-Shoe

The pros: very comfortable right out of the box, fit true to size, very easy to clean off dirt and other stuff from the upper to keep the new look going.

The big con: as others have stated, the soles of the shoes get amazingly full with grass clippings, leaves, and other stuff. While I did not have any traction issues today, it took forever to get all of the stuff out from between the "spikes" on the soles after the round. I wish the course I played at today had an air compressor nearby.

  • 3 weeks later...

I bought a pair of the Liberty Gallivanters a few weeks ago and they arrived just before a week long golf trip with 6 rounds of golf. Living in NZ i had some order issues as they had to come from the States and the process of correcting this managed to be a combination of extremely helpful and frustrating in equal measure. But at the end of the day we got there.

Straight out of the box these are a great looking shoe and feel very well made. They got compliments from everyone who found it refreshing to see a pair of "old school" style shoes that looked this good. I went half a size up on the fit and they are perfect for me. The fit is comfortable and despite 5 rounds of golf in 6 days i had no issues. I think i have found my go to shoe in the near future.

I have to say i do agree with everyone about the amount of stuff the sole picks up. The amount is incredible and im sure in autumn you could negotiate a discount with the greenkeeper and club for the amount of leaves you could clear in a round. At times it feels like you have on some home made snow shoes. Overall i think they are a great shoe.

Probably too much. They have a ton of little, pretty sharp, cleats on the bottoms

Echoing the same as the two above unless you get the new MG4.1 then you're good to go for on- and off-course use.

Oh, I don't care about Mossimo. But thought I'd give the heads up in case there were any out there.

As for the rankings, I realize SC has improved it's status. But to the majority of people in the world, having a degree from there will not impress people like an ivy league school. Though their networking in socal is second to none and probably worth the price if admission.

I still don't get it's appeal though.

My sister went to the University of Spoiled Children.

I went to UCLA. (She couldn’t get in. Way too tough). It’s been 3 decades of great Intrafamily rivalry ever since.

30 years ago absolutely anyone that could write a check for the giant tuition could go to USC. That’s definitely not the case anymore.

It's actually a good school, it isn't an Ivy league school, but it is still really good. That happens all the time, guess they just got called out on it. Probably doesn't help either that they rarely showed up for classes and didn't really have remote qualifications to get in. If you don't think that type of stuff doesn't happen in Ivy league schools are sadly mistaken.

Anyway - I have two pair of Disruptors (looking for a pair of patriots next) and they are outstanding! I did get a pair of MG4.1's and liked them but they just didn't fit me right as they are wide and I have narrow feet.

BTW - Peter Millar owns G/Fore

Have a pair of White Gallivanters. Very comfortable with good traction. A good option for not going FJ icon or 1857 and less expensive. Only issue is even with maintenance and care its tough finding a shoe that lasts in the AZ summer months

The Brogue Gallivanter. The one they did with Peter Millar. Owned LOTS of golf shoes and I've never had a pair rip as bad as these... Huge Bummer.
