18th hole at my home course, par 4, dogleg right with a fairway bunker through the fairway at the turn and tall trees if you don't hit it far enough or are too far right. The play for me is to cut it off the bunker. On this day, I double cross it, snap hook it toward the backyard fences. It gets down in time to ricochet off the fence, runs up to the turn, left of the bunker, and hits the fence again. I have almost no swing so I just get what I can on it to punch it back towards the fairway. It bounces over a mound, but gets caught up on the far side in some solid rough on a funky downhill, sidehill lie. I try a 6-iron, but it doesn't come out well, skidding along the fairway to about 40 yards short of the green, leaving a pitch over a bunker for my fourth. I hit it well but it looked like it didn't have the legs to get all the way there. Hits the downslope on the other side of the bunker, shoots forward and rolled for an absurdly long time before finally toppling into the cup for par.

Thin par 5:

Off the tee there’s a 200 carry over water. I topped my drive and it skids off the water, into the fairway and rolls another 80 yards into a fairway bunker on the right hand side. Topped a hybrid and I’m still in the bunker. Next shot gets out of the bunker, and into the next bunker 140 yards from the green. After the previous shots I decide to play it safe, use SW to just get out of the bunker instead of an 8 iron to reach the green. I top the SW, it just barely clears the lip and rolls to 2 feet from the hole. 4 awful shots, one in the water and three bunkers and a tap in par.

My opponent hit three great shots all towering high and dead straight, and his second putt from four feet makes a 180 turn inside the cup and pops back out.

I'm sure many other's have done this, but I did the old 'knock it OB on a par 5, and still got par" thing. I just remember mine as it was in a match play event and my partner thought he had the hole wrapped up. I think I pi**ed him off :)

Same here!

Also lost a tee ball dead right OB on the first hole (par 4) of a sudden death playoff. Hit the next one nice but sitting 3 about 120 out. To make matters worse I was away...

Dropped the next shot into the hole.

Lost on the next hole to a 50-ish footer for birdie but felt like a winner anyway.

I had a pretty cool one on the weekend in my money match.

Easy par five on the home course, 500 yards total that has a gentle dogleg left to right. Water right/long and tree lined the entire left side.

Shot 1: Straight into left trees, Long but it didnt bend at all and air mailed into the deep woods.

Shot 2: Usually I'm a smart player but try the hero punch out to advance it into wedge territory. Its a par five! Gotta go low! End up hitting a tree and going even further inside the trees. Maybe its been advanced 50 yards.

Shot 3: I'm now 200-250 out and deep in the woods. No real option side ways so I'm forced to continue slashing around. Try to punch out again but rattle off more trees and I'm still in jail. Advanced another fifty yards.

Shot 4: I'm able to advance this ball down the far left of the hole and punch it to about 60 yards out but still in the trees. These trees are more like big hedges or bushes though so I'll have some chance to save a 7 or 8 in my mind...

Shot 5: Hit a high flop shot over the last few trees, go high instead of low (That hasnt worked well thus far) get lucky and watch it one hop into the hole for the coolest par of the day LOL.

Easy par. I think I hit 6 or 7 trees and outside of the drive I didnt hit one shot over 125 yards total hahaha.

Short par 5. Nutted a drive middle of fairway, couldn’t have hit it any better. I didn’t have my GPS watch so I’m thinking around 140 out, smooth wedge in. I fly the green and my ball clangs off of a wrought iron fence and ricochets back towards the green lands in deep rough. Not a great chip and a 2 putt for par.

Another crazy birdie story: was playing a course that I was not familiar with, very firm fairways. Hit a good drive up the right edge of the fairway on a short par 4. I find that there is a lake in front of the green that I thankfully missed just to the right, but I can't take a normal right handed stance because of the lake. About 50 yards to hole, I take a left handed stance and turn my PW upside down. Hit it to about 15 feet, made putt for 3.

Last month playing in palm springs, i had a real solid round going, i had just par'd 9-15 and we're on 16. Pretty wide open hole, just dont go right as there is a small pond/creek and houses, left is really open. Pull 3w off the tee and what do you know, hit it right into the little creek. Figuring that ball is gone I re-teed and ripped that down the pipe. We get to my ball, i come up short of the green and get to everyone else's ball. My buddy in the cart was like hey whos ball is that? we go check it out and some how my ball flew out of the water or something and was sitting in the fairway wayyyyyy down there. The water wasnt very deep so were thinking it somehow bounced off the bottom of the floor and shot back out without us seeing it. Ended up making par to keep the streak alive!

Mostly PING clubs, with TaylorMade woods.

At Shenvallee Resort in VA in 1985, I hit my tee shot OB on a par3. It hit the roof of some townhomes that bordered the right side of the green and landed on the green. Tidy 2-putt par. This was also the first time I broke 80. Lucky day! :taunt:

Flared tee ball into a (red staked) water hazard on a mid-length par 4. Dropped and hit 3rd into a greenside bunker. Pulled bunker shot about 5 feet offline and ball caroms off playing partner's ball and redirects into hole for a par.

Also played with a guy once who hit his tee ball OB on a par 5. Re-teed, layed up, and holed his 5th from about 145 yds. One hop into the hole. Not the craziest but fairly unlikely.

Most recent one was on my home course 1st hole downhill dogleg left par 4, topped my tee shot much to my playing partners delight... it ran down to the left rough short of the fairway bunker.

Next shot I was going for a low running draw to get up near or hopefully onto the green, topped it again... it ran through the bunker thank goodness and finished in the left rough about 30m from the green.

Third shot was a nervy wedge to 6 foot and I rolled it in for par, ended up beating 2 of my playing partners.

The most ridiculous one was on the 3rd at my home course, downhill short par 4 thick trees left and OB right, I manage to hit my tee shot down in the right rough before the lake in front of the green, proceed to duff my second into the water just short of the green, the ball pops out and finishes on the fringe, chip to 2 foot, make par. Now I must stress that the ball was under the water... it wasn't a skim shot, it came down from height into the water and somehow popped up and onto the fringe. Everyone couldn't believe what just happened.
