I did notice from that last thread that the price has gone up 33% in 2 years...$900 to $1200. Better get your

memberships now everyone. They'll be $1600 in 2 years. :D

 

Guys spend over 5 minutes looking for a ProV. How long do you think they'll be looking for a ball that cost twice as much......... :hunter: :hunter:

 

Probably have to check your weapons at the Pro-shop, if your playing behind them.

I am surprised we don't have a better review on this ball. I bought the trial pack--2 sleeves each of the Clear Black and Clear Red. I'll play them and try to give a meaningful review.

 

Truth be told, I probably spend waaay too much money on golf balls yearly because I'm constatntly trying, hoarding, switching. If these are really that good, it would probably be a wash financially to commit to one ball for the year.

 

I'm currently playing TP5x, but have also played AVX, Srixon Z-Star XV, Chrome Soft, ProV1/V1x. Bridgestone B330s (2014 vintage), Snell--you get the picture.

But seriously, of all the expensive sh#$ we praise on these forums, why not give these balls a chance? Man, I was crushing the TP5x today and I cannot imagine this being better. But, what if it is?

And for me, this is what I think of the price of a ProV or any other premium golf ball out there at $4/ball. A complete ripoff.

I saw a commercial for Clear today and figured I'd bring back this thread. Has anyone actually tried them yet? I plan on sticking with my ProV1x's as they've performed as good as I could hope for me over the pat 10ish years, but I'm always interested to hear about other options.

 

It looks like they've changed their business practices though. Now anyone can go onto their website and order a dozen and no more of that membership garbage. I'm not sure but I imagine that is a sign they aren't doing as well as they hoped.

So my dad actually has some of these. Tried his Clear Green this past weekend and felt like a really good ball. Im not a great golfer so my opinion is a bit baseless though.

 

My dad is a single digit handicap, when he tried them out he said he really liked the feel and spin, said very similar to a Pro V1. Problem is they are $58 so if they aren't actually better than a Pro V1 not much point in playing them. Switched back to Pro V1 after a while and now these are just sitting in his garage.

 

Bottom line, Clear makes a very good ball perhaps similar in quality to a Pro V1, but $8 more expensive. I think Clear would be better served pricing these at $30 - $40 and be content competing with Snell as the best DTC ball, rather than this faux uber premium brand thing they are currently doing. It's a shame really because they do make a very good ball.

It would be like be like ordering a Pepsi Clear and getting a regular instead. Super disappointing.
