Will you pay to watch Tiger v Phil?

PPV. I don't think they will have many viewers willing to pay. Makes no difference who wins, it proves nothing.

Is this the future of golf, PPV for the Majors? Perhaps change to PPV when any tournament is close and requires a play off.

Stupid, stupid, stupid.

It's a unique event that will likely donate the profits of PPV to a charity. They also probably went to PPV so it could be live with both golfers mic'd up so they won't have to worry about any expletives that are said. No one is forcing you to buy it and you're clearly not interested in it, so not sure why you care so much.

Never said that anyone is forcing me to buy tickets. Why do care so much about my opinion? My point is that why should we have to pay for this event? There have been many head to head golf events that were free on TV. The major channels already pay big bucks for golf events, no reason that money could not go to charities. Sponsors are not that hard to come by for events that interest viewers.

No one is forcing you to comment on my comments, next time give your opinion without slamming someone else, or buy a ticket. :swoon:

You don't have to pay for the event, opt not to watch it.

If the price is reasonable, $25 or less I'll pay to watch it. I'm sure they will have both guys mic'd up and will follow them on the course so it's like the viewers are walking along with them.

$25! No way.

$12.99 $11.99 is my max. Then, I have money left over for snacks. Maybe roast beef hero and Combos. And sodas!

Wait... Aren't you dieting?

Yeah I dieting! M-F my menu consists of ON Gold Standard, Cheerios, Salmon, turkey, and rotisserie chicken, and yams and greens, and water.

But weekend? Be like Ribs, Spaghetti n meatballs, sausage n rigatoni, sangwiches, chips, and sodas, everything! Oh, and a lot o vino ; )

Why not just fast until Tiger wins a PGA Tour event again.

I wouldn't be all that interested in watching it for free to be honest. I am not really sure why this is supposed to be interesting. It's an exhibition between 2 guys who don't hate each other and are not at the top of their games. I don't want to pay money to watch guys play a casual round

Depends on the price and the format. If it's $20 or less and it's stroke play, yes. If it's matchplay I probably won't unless it's super cheap. There's too much risk of either Phil catching a heater and the match only lasting 15 holes or Phil hitting it all over the map and losing in 12 holes. Phil is the wild card. Tiger is predictable. He's going to go out, miss the fairways by so much that he actually winds up with a decent lie, hit it 15 feet from the hole, make 30% of those 15 footers, and shoot 67.

I cant wait to give them my money. It's Thanksgiving, my uncle who introduced me to the game will be over. I'm sure we're going to be hammered. Sounds like a great time to me.

^ I’m with you man. It’s gonna be entertaining to watch one way or another. I’m sure there’s a drinking game or several to be played watching this thing.

Nope, not paying and probably wouldn't go to much trouble to watch if it was free. Maybe 12-15 years ago when they were both top 5 golfers. I've enjoyed watching them both, saw them plenty in their prime and hope they can stick around, but neither has a clue where their tee shots are going. Unless it's a blue moon, they'll both be all over the golf course. Maybe that's interesting, but wouldn't pay to watch.

Definitely not......this is not like boxing(exciting) where everyone is interested....this only appeals to golfers and non-golfers think watching golf is very boring to watch..this will be a bust in spite of all the golf pundits and commentators who blow smoke in our u-know-what...it's just another money grab .......I would be interested though if they each hit 2 balls and the opponents makes them hit the worst one(though this probably would happen on their 1st shot anyway-especially Phil......

I'd like to see the wager be more interesting. If Tiger loses he has to go back to sex addiction rehab and has to shave is receding hairline.. If Phil loses he has to go on a media tour where they only ask him questions about Tiger and his US Open failures.

I might pony up some cash if two conditions are met:

1. The players are putting up their own money, straight out of their wallet, not the money made by the event.

2. The winner donates much of their winnings to an IRS 501©3 charity with a squeaky clean record of very low overhead and the money used to help people. Not their foundation or other personal charity.

Other than that forget it, if they are not putting up their own money the pressure and excitement of the competition disappears. If they do not donate something somewhere completely out of their control, then why should I pay $$$ to help their tax liability or add to their pockets.
