are those 2005 and 2008 balls still good?

Yeah, actually the modern solid-core golf balls don't have a "shelf life" like the old wound balata balls did. As long as they are stored in a cool, dry place they will last for a very long time...some say indefinitely. I keep mine in a closet or behind the door in my office, so they are kept at room temperature. If they are stored in an attic, garage, car trunk, or something like that, they will eventually start to lose performance.

Will there be a difference between the 2005 B330-S and the current Tour B XS? Sure...but it's not due to the 2005 model breaking down, it's because in the last 12-13 years improvements have been made, so the newer balls will perform better due to that.

Normally yes. I actually got the 2005 B330-S balls when B-Stone offered to put me on their equipment staff that year. I received a case of balls (12 dz) with my name stamped on them which they did for guys like us to make it less likely that someone would try to sell them.

I don't know if anyone remembers, but there were some issues with the cover on the very first version of the B330-S and it would scuff really easily. A few months later they made a running change to correct the issue and they sent me some new ones. A couple of years later I started working for Bridgestone and was provided samples of all the models. I kept the remainder of the 2005 B330-S for my shag bag.

All the versions of the B330-RX are outstanding, but I really liked the original ball released in 2008. This was the highest spinning RX ever released. In 2010 the spin was reduced to create separation from the new RXS, and the trend continued to make a noticeable difference between the RX and RXS. That's why I acquired as many 2008 RX as I could.

In all honesty, I use some of these balls for testing purposes, but most of them I give away to golf shop staff, players I'm paired with when I play, marshalls, etc.

4doz Kirkland 3Pcs

4doz Srixon Trispeed Tour

Holy crap I have a lot of balls :stop:

Only 360 and are they all still in boxes/sleeves?

I am weening myself off. At a scramble and will leave about 24 decent found good quality balls at registration for any non-golfers to grab. Also bringing prizes to help (of course including a dozen balls).

Been a couple of months since I opened a new sleeve (KSig 4pc since I just got them) and really should.

  • 2 weeks later...

I really like the Bridgestone e5 ball that was discontinued a while back. I picked up 12 dozen for half price last fall. Don’t know what I will play when my stash runs out but I am set for the foreseeable future. Didn’t like the new e6 soft when I tried it. By the time my stash runs out there will probably be another option for me in the mid-price range.

To be completely forthcoming, I've been in the golf business for the last 24 years or so, and playing for the last 35. These are just the new golf balls in the spare bedroom upstairs. If we count garage, downstairs/basement, and storage building, well...I don't know how many I have. WAAAAAAY too many to ever play them all, if I stop acquiring new right now.

Updated stash inventory as of 8/24

NEW BALLS ON HAND

Yellow AVX (1 doz.)

BALLS IN THE USED/SHAG BASKET

Yellow AVX (5 balls)

MTB Black (2 balls)

ProV1x (about 3 doz.)

Gotta say that's fewer *new* balls in my stash than I can recall in quite a while. No doubt I will restock with a vengeance some time soon.

The used/shag basket will get somewhat depleted next month when I play 2-3 rounds at a narrow, ball-eating course down at the beach with OB left/water right (or vice versa) on just about every hole. I usually pack 15-20 used balls when we go on vacation there and some years I come back with only a couple of them remaining.

My home course is a "links style " course. Lot of places to lose a ball if you spray it. Most guys ride and are to lazy to look for their errant shots. I walk my rds and find 4-10 balls just off fairways every rd. I keep the Bridgestone and Srixon balls, give my son the Pro V1's and give the rest to the Jr and HS programs. These are 4-5* balls, no pond stuff. We're talking 50-60 dozen balls per year total.

To be fair, the person who lost the ball could have fished it out of a hazard or bought it from lostgolfballs.com

All, with the exception of the Tour B X, are gathering dust, as it’s a far superior ball to all the rest (for me).

Hey Northe, let me know what you think of the MTB blacks if you hit them, as compared to AVX's
