Dodgers just can't get their bullpen to wake up, I agree it will be Cubs or Cards. Hoping the Yanks can get healthy and make it to the WS, Yankee/Cubs would be AMAZING!

My ideal playoffs scenario would be this:

Wild Card Round:

Yankees vs. A's

Cards vs. Dodgers

Divisional Round:

Yankees vs. Red Sox

Indians vs. Astros

Rockies vs. Braves

Cards vs. Cubs

Championship Round:

Indians vs. Red Sox

Cards vs. Braves

World Series:

Cards vs. Red Sox

This has rematches of old and some good rivalries. Would make for some good TV if you ask me.

Go away Cardinals, lol! I hope the braves can keep trucking. They seem to have come back to earth but are still playing well. I hope they can keep their young guys together.

I would like to see a Braves vs Yankees world series. But have to admit I watch a lot of astros games these days because of how entertaining they are. All of their guys can pound the ball and seem to really enjoy playing with each other, pretty fun to watch.

Altuve is just stupid amazing. Don't know if Yanks pitching can handle him.

For sure. Yankees offense would have to be clicking so they could keep up and outscore them a couple games. We will see if they heat up once they get Didi and Judge back and if the pitching staff can also tighten up. I don't really see them making a run the way they have played this year but they would be fun to watch if they got hot.

And don't forget Sanchez. With those 3 back, the Yanks can back to their main strategy of outscoring anyone they play. And Severino and CC have to get back into form. They have both been slumping lately. Unless these things happen, I don't get a warm comfy feeling about NY vs Oak in that stupid 1 game wildcard playoff. They should really make it a best of 3 series.

Totally agree, 1 game WC playoff is so ridiculous to both teams.

Yanks get McCutchen, hopefully Shane Robinson never plays pro ball again.

I would very much enjoy a repeat of the '07 WS I really enjoy watching this rockies team. Also hope that seattle finds a way in but I think that ship has sailed.

Hate the Rockies!!

(Actually I don’t, they have a bunch of seemingly really good guys on that club. And Coors field is an awesome park filled with great fans. Their hometown announcer however is such a blantant homer (( he made Harry Cary seem objective)) that it’s just turned me off the entire team).

  • 3 weeks later...

Can't believe my AAA team Rays are going to win roughly 90 games and won't get in-

Seriously though, the AL East is just ridiculous. My team's gonna finish at or around 100 wins and the HFA in the WC isn't even locked down

The AL is loaded. You could make the argument that the 5 best teams in baseball are in the AL. But I think the 4 best teams are in the AL.

I feel bad for my red sox who will probably have to play the yankees in the ALDS. I don't think the sox have the bullpen to make the WS. I have indians and astros in ALCS with Brewers and Dodgers in the NLCS. Bring on October!!

Not feeling particularly hot about Yanks vs Oakland in a one game playoff. Sevy? Happ? Tanaka (if it’s in Oakland)?

Last year we had a scrappy team that was never out of any game. Doesn’t quite have that feeling this year. I really hope Didi is healthy enough to play. His postseason heroics last year were incredible.

Good frickin' grief. He really stinks as a pitcher. I could care less what his stats are. Arrrgggghhhhhh!!!!! :angry22:

I understand the sentiment as a fan, but when he is on he is almost untouchable.

I've talked to two former pros who faced him in the minors and they said he had the most movement on a fastball that they had ever seen, just swing and pray.

Guys with that kind of movement and velocity can be streaky. A little kink in the mechanics changes your stuff from being unhittable to not being able to throw a strike.

He's a great story and seems like a passionate small town guy, I hope he gets his rhythm back.

Lots of close races to finish up, should be a fun postseason.

I think they go with Tanaka, gotta have Happ start ALDS 1 to give him the chance to start in game 5 (if it comes to that). Happ is great against Boston

Haven't been following the rotation, so it might be real close to another start, but why not throw Sevy? He is clearly the yankees best guy, and if on is as good as anybody. Is it because he is struggling lately?

Had a miserable 2nd half of the season and a poor(ish) last outing

That's what I figured. If I'm Oakland I'm sure glad he isn't standing out there if Sevy ends up not starting.

Well they haven't announced the starter yet so it's still a grab bag. Oakland seems to be doing a bullpen game so I wouldn't be surprised if they put Sevy out there for 3 or 4 innings and hand it over to the pen. If Sevy starts the WC game then it lines J.A. Happ to pitch twice against Boston

LET'S GO YANKEES

WE WANT BOSTON!!! Gonna try and get tix for game 3. I went to game 3 of the ALDS last year when Tanaka shut down the Tribe and Bird hit that HR. It’s great to see the new stadium feel like the old stadium again.

Haven't watched a game all year. Just turned over to see what the Cubs are up to and ESPN has a virtual strike zone imposed on the screen? Can't hardly stand to watch it, and won't for long.

Been an awfully entertaining last couple of weeks Hawk, playoff atmospheres everywhere.

One of my regular guys (big Rockies fan) told me yesterday after the Wildcard game, “I’m not sure I can take many more of these”.

I love playoff baseball, so many games where you’re hanging on every pitch.
