Dechambeau have anyone looking at arm-lock again?

Just got my Betti Kuchar signature out of the basement, it's feeling kind of good... Little nervous.

 

He was lights out last week and this week, 4.876(!!!) strokes gained this week!

I have been looking at an arm lock putter... but I need to get fit and find the right one

Built one today. Used an Odyssey #1 belly proto head. 400g. Steel shaft at 42” and fitted it with an Arm Lock Golf putter grip that I never used. 76* lie angle.

 

Feels great in the garage. Will try it tomorrow if Gordon hasn’t closed the course down due to rain.

I think that because the end of the shaft still moves it’s going to be ok. With the anchored putters the end of the shaft did not move and the putter just went straight back and straight through. With the arm lock the end of the shaft moves with the arm and is not fixed in one spot like it was when anchored.

Ive been using mine the past 3 months with ok results....

 

always been a decent putter, so it really doesn't matter what I use (when you suck you suck) but the armlock isn't too bad when you get use to it. I just love how stable it is

 

its not miracle fix and everyone I have let try it has a hard time getting use to it and they feel really constrained and the weight throws them off

 

now people on the practice green will ask me if I am Armlocking cause of Bryson :(

don't think it will matter too much, but you might want to see if you can add loft to the head. Most armlocks are like 6-8* loft

His style seems to be different then the conventional arm lock or odyssey type. His is extreme upright lie, super straight locked out left arm. That's what I call armlock!

 

I would be curious to see his putter specs. I know he has a graphite shaft in it.

I'm always fascinated at the concept of doing something because it works for a pro. I mean, I get why the golf companies want you to think that, because it's great marketing, but a pro having a great week using an arm lock isn't going to impact what works for me at all.

I would suggest if someone has yip issues that the claw grip is a great thing to try and will work better for most people than switching to arm lock. But there is no denying that arm lock rescued Webb Simpson’s career. He is one of the best putters on tour now and he was anything but that after the anchoring ban. Claw grip is easier way to get qucik results, as in 30 minutes on a practice green. Armlock requires some acclimation.

Arm lock putting looks super uncomfortable to me. It looks like it would produce a ton of tension in the forearms, which is something I have to really work to avoid. I've never actually seen an arm lock putter in the wild to give it a try, though, so my perception could be off.

actually there isn't much tension... and the putter is incredibly stable.

 

You just have to get use to it. I suck at putting so it didn't make much difference for me lol

Bought and Odyssey #7 armlock on here about a year and a half ago, and its like an old girlfriend, I always realize how good it was for me when I go and try something else. Its only 39" but works for me. Produces the best roll for my stroke, just wish I could lag long putts with it like I do a blade, then again Adam Scott double puttered for a minute, and that has the wheels turning!!!!

Older bettinardi model 1. Last years SS with the ceramic coating sucked. When I started the only other option was building one yourself from a stock head so made sense to go with the company making them for Kuchar.

Got a Versa 1W Arm Lock yesterday and I really like the feel of it. I am a little unsure about the standard grip, though. What are my options for a Bryson-style flat grip? The only one I could find is the new one from JumboMax.

The jumbomax is a good bet imo it looks really good. As for 17" superstrokes they're extremely difficult to find I finally found two after a ton of searching on eBay.

Agree. I sent an email to superstroke asking about their 17" flatso model that is no longer shown on their website nor is the Lite 1.3 17". They advised that they still make it, but for the tour only. He suggested keep an eye on eBay for them. I ended up purchasing a couple of them as I have built one and will build another armlock putter using Anser style heads.

Wow, 46"! I am 6'5" and played with a 45" for a while, but have switched over to a 43" now as I felt I have been more consistent being bent over a little more.

I'm 6'5" as well and 43" felt way too short. I was hunched over quite a bit to make it work.
