"Worth an extra $2500"

No one here can tell you that, only you can decide that. I had the Gen 1's and now play the Gen 2's, absolutely worth every penny to me. But that's for me.

Personally I've never had a problem playing previous generation's golf technology. If it were my money I'd say go with the Gen 1's and when the Gen 3's come out maybe you can score some Gen 2's through the Heroes program. I've never played or hit either but an old saying goes "price is what you pay and value is what you get". And insofar as this situation is concerned only you can determine that.

Hit XF gen1 6i today at club champion. Awesome feels so soft and maybe a club and a half longer than my cf16. I think I will get it especially at that price. I went in and want to try Mizuno 919 and Ping i500, but these are super solid.

Seeing how I can't really test them against each other. Enjoyed the Gen 1s so leaning on going PXG.

Through their hereos program I can get their Gen 1s now for $935 shipped or pay the extra coin for the Gen 2s. Price isn't a problem but if the Gen 2s arent worth an extra $2500.

Thoughts?

I think only you can define what is worth the extra $2500

For some it might be saving one shot a round, for others three shots and for some it is preferring the look even though the performance is no different.

My experience was that the changes were fairly modest and I would think that getting the right shaft and having the clubs correctly built to your exact needs would make a bigger difference than performance changes through merely changing heads.

FWIW if I had that particular decision I would stick with Gen 1s, simply because the Gen 2's would not be worth the extra $2500 to me. I still find the players model to have too much offset for my liking and I view the Gen 2 changes as having the least impact on the tour model

How do irons get higher launch and lower spin?

Not sure if you are being sarcastic but the answer to your question would generally be lower CG

Yes, they must sell the Gen 2, but it seems for many golfers and reviewers, the changes are not noticeable.

But some want the latest and greatest, while others look for value.

No one here can tell you that, only you can decide that. I had the Gen 1's and now play the Gen 2's, absolutely worth every penny to me. But that's for me.

What specifically does gen 2 do better that's worth an additional 2.5 times the purchase price? 2.5 times the distance? 2.5 times the accuracy?

Sorry, it's just hard to believe it's anything other than marketing and some tiny tweaks.

Performance pro a lu won’t chabge much between them but for me the difference was in feel. Gen2 felt better enough to me.

The cost difference and the worth will be up to you. If you plan to game them fit 2+ years and play a significant number of rounds/year probably 25ish or more then the cost is worth it imo

Just about everything! And the latest always will cost more just like a new driver is more than last years model.

There is nothing worth an extra $2500 worth it when it comes to golf equipment especially when it's only the next release to come out. I'm sure they are nice but seriously. Everyone who just went out and bought the Gen 1's thru the Hero's program are very happy with their purchase and feel the same way since they are much more reasonably priced then what the Gen 2's are. I understand that no one likes to be told how they should spend their money as we all work hard for it.
