Not me. Not now anyway
the guy is a literal genius no way to copy him (for me at least) without having his intelligence + talent

i dont know about that

Β

the one good thing it appears about his technique, is that knowing where the plane should be at all times allows him to swing harder.

Β

the one bad thing for me at least would be getting used to the upright lies ... standard already looks unplayably upright to me.

Has me reconsidering an MOI build setup with smaller length gaps between sticks.

You're kidding, right?

Β

His mental prowess as a math/science whiz (which may or may not be genius-level) has nothing to do with his golf swing and the fact that he uses a set of (mostly) same-length clubs.

Β

Anybody can try to emulate that swing -- and many people would probably have solid results by incorporating some/most/all of what he does. Some would hate it, of course.

Not changing my swing, but testing out Jumbomax grips. Early results are promising.

Β

I switched to a mid-size grip recently AND built up the right hand with three extra layers of tape to greatly decrease the taper. That does change the swing weight, though, so you have to be careful.

I believe you skipped over the β€œ(for me at least)” it may work for a lot of people but too much thinking and would drive myself crazy. Have a good one

Dammit Monte you've been doing this for long enough to know that somebody doing something weird, that works for them means they have 'the secret' figured out and everybody should damn well get with the program. Next time I'm at one of your clinics I'll have my single length gear in hand, I'll be expecting a thorough explanation of how to get my vertically challenged body to emulate Bryson. And if that fails I know you have the Hogan 'secret' figured out as well. Even though my knuckles don't drag the ground when I walk I'm sure we can make one of those guys swing work for me!

Yes, I am setting my hands MUCH higher with driver as a result of watching him.

Β

Interesting. Did you adjust the settings on your driver at all?

Β

I’ve been playing the F7 One Length since late last year.

Β

It took a decent amount of time for me to adjust... and I still have BAD days (pun intended).

Β

I immediately loved the longer 9i and wedge tho, especially the built-in increased peak apex, as I never was a high ball hitter to begin with.

As always, Your Results May Vary.

No but I changed my swing due to Dustin Johnson’s success year. Half way through my round decided my 105 SS wasn’t doing it so decided to try full DJ. Started swing about 130 mph now and couldn’t be happier. Distance improved greatly and scores dropped. Don’t know why I didn’t do this years ago!

Golf instruction needs to STOP making great players about their anomalies.

Β

Not sure what you mean by this, Monte. Can you clarify, please?

Β

Means copying good players anomalies just because they have success. Dustin Johnson extreme bow and huge right side bend for example

Β

That's what I thought, but wasn't sure. Thx, Monte! ;-)

what he's doing is more than an "anomily" like DJs overly flat wrist. BD's approach requires a whole different set of equipment

since Bryson's 6-PW are single length (6 iron length) irons, the only distance differentiator would be "loft". does that mean he would have different trajectories for each club in contrast of normal pros that have "one "optimal" trajectory throughout the bag??

I am a documented genius, according to Mensa, but I think my hand-eye coordination is a bit better as I have no need for straightening/locking my arms to hit a golf ball with any consistency. To each their own.

Β

His swing is no worse than Jim Furyk's from a style perspective. But from a shear accuracy standpoint I'd take Moe's swing over Bryson's. But that's just me. :)
