Suggestions for a good public course in Milwaukee? Right now I'm thinking Brown Deer, but I'm open to suggestions. Thanks!

Brown Deer is THE call for the City of Milwaukee, proper.

Adding counties adjacent to Milwaukee County expands your choice of really good public courses: Washington County, Morningstar, Erin Hills, Broadlands, Nagawaukee, Fire Ridge, and The Bog.

Obviously, Erin Hills is a bucket list course and you'll pay a premium.

Washington County is the best value as it is a kind of miniature Erin Hills at 1/5 the price.

Nagawaukee is also a good value, but a step below WashCo. Like WashCo and Brown Deer, it's a muni course (county-owned) but nicely conditioned.

The Bog is weakest in terms of value. I'd only choose it if you were actually north of Milwaukee and intended to play 36, as it is a mix of difficult holes (forced carries with no bailout areas) and gimmicky holes (blind shots).

TBH, if I had to choose between Brown Deer and Washington County, I don't know which one I would take. I think both are about the same price, although you might catch a few bucks off WashCo on a hot deal from GolfNow.

Thank Phreddy. He gave it to you first!

And, have a great time at Brown Deer. A true gem. It's sad the PGA Tour abandoned places like Milwaukee and Brown Deer Park...

I am considering Brown Deer Monday. Is the course in good condition?
