G400 LST Shaft Help

I have been using the G400 LST for a little over a month now and I love it. My only issue is the Alta CB shaft. I have it in stiff flex but it still feels pretty loose. My SS is between Stiff and X-Stiff at 102 mph. I am thinking I will go with an x flex in my next shaft. Recently went with an x flex in my irons and I love the feel the extra stability.

 

Wanted some feedback on what other users have had success with.

 

Some shafts I have been looking at are:

 

Fujikura Speeder Evolution II

Evenflow Black

Kuro Kage Silver Tini

Tensei ck Blue/Orange/White

 

Looking for something with a stable tip that doesn't feel overly boardy.

 

Let me know if there are any others I should consider.

Ping has a great shaft in the Tour 65 I am about the same swing speed as you in the 104mph + or - and I play the Tour 65 in Stiff flex. I love the feel of the Tour 65 it is a 61g shaft responsive and provides very good control with a mid launch profile. I think it was $40.00 upgrade from Ping so I would assume it's about $100 shaft from a Ping account

Sorry I don't have much to offer in the other shafts you listed, I have used the Ping Tour 65 shaft in my last three Ping Drivers going back to the G30, G, and G400

Tour 65 is a good shaft. I play the stiff flex as well. And just bought a x flex off Ebay to play around with.

Diamana S+, but I don't know with your SS you'd need to go x in it. I'm around 105 and I feel the D+ is lively and awesome, but a tiny bit spinny for me. But when hit in the cruchies it goes.

My driver SS is 105-110 depending on the day. The Tour 65 S is perfect. With the head at 10°, the ball flight is right where I like it.

 

Should also add that I hated the Alta. With the 4.7° torque rating (or in that ballpark), my dispersion was awful. The Tour 65 comes in at 3.2° and definitely tightened things up - a lot.

The PING Tour shafts are really good.

 

I'm not sure if the new ones are the same, but if memory serves the last model was a slightly lighter and softer UST Elements Chrome with a PING paint-job.

Another vote for the Tour although mine is a 75g S flex. Extra weight seems to help with my quick transition and doesn’t seem to affect distance. I’ve got mine set up on the little minus and still hit a baby draw most of the time. Should be easy to fit a pre owned one on the cheap to try.

I'd recommend the Ping Tour 65 stiff, also might want to try out the X-Torsion Copper

I currently have the Evenflow black 6.5 75g shaft in my LST. I think they are a good match but believe I can get more out of a Rogue 125. I am having a tough time deciding which driver to use as I have the lst and alos a 917 D3 with the 125msi Rogue. When I'm warm and swinging well, the D3 is just stupid long. The Ping I found is not the "bomber" I expected but do feel it is more forgiving on off-center hits. Any Evenflow, or Diamana shaft would pair good with the lst head IMO.

I have a swing speed around 100 mph with the driver and have the G400 LST with Tour 65 shaft in an R flex. All my other clubs have stiff flex in them. I have no trouble controlling it and get excellent distance. I carry my drives over 240 yards with this driver shaft combo.

Ping tour shaft is a god shaft for sure

 

I have the handcrafted evenflow 6.5 in my lst and love it. Just a bomber

Swing it at 103-105 and my favorite shafts are always right in the mid-launch, mid-spin category. I really enjoy the Ping Tour S, it is quality and a great fit for me, and like J-Tiz above I will cast another vote for the Diamana Blue S. That shaft is one I like in driver and fairways and hybrids. Isn’t Tensei Blue a descendant of the Diamana Blue. They are super shafts. I don’t like the Whiteboard as well. It seems stout to me. Would like to try it in a Reg or tipped Reg.

 

Finally, I’ll mention a few more old favorites if you want affordable and good. The Aldila Tour Blue (mid) and Green (low) and the Grafalloy Red or Red Supercharged or Axis. I don’t believe you need to spend big money to come up with a cannon build, especially with that head.

I put a kuro kage silver tini S fw wood shaft tipped 1.5" in my 8.5 lst playing at 43". So sweet. Don't know enough about your swing to comment on your results but wow it feels so much better than the super lightweight Alta.

I swing it at about 115 and have a Tensei Pro Blue 70tx and absolutely love it. It certainly feels softer but very stable. I would suggest trying a couple out but the diamana s+, Tensei Pro Blue, even the aldila green mamba is all solid shafts.

Did this exact same thing for my G30 LST! Thought the stiff might be a little too soft, but found it's just about perfect for me. Hits a little higher than I'm used to, but hit some bombs with it. Don't know if I'd have picked this one had I not demo'd it at a golf show.

Thanks for all the responses. I put a Kuro Kage Tini 60 x in it and the performance has been great. Definitely lower spin and a nice mid launch. The shaft is solid, and when I load it properly it feels like it unloads through the ball with some power. Now I just have to consistently load it properly....
