Any News on a TaylorMade P770 Replacement? (Pics added pg 8)

Recommended Posts

The possibility of a set in between the 750 and 770 really intrigues me. I have buddies that love both models and one has a combo set. What I've never understood was the huge price difference between the two. I want to say it was a $400 difference. If TM comes out with the 760's in the price point of the 770's, I will definitely have to give them a try.

Great point!!! I want to combo but the 750 was SO much more due to?? I do love the 770 but would like to try the 750 too!

Patiently waiting for the 760's to leak before pulling the trigger on another set of 790s...

Doing the same exact thing, haha. Got my finger on the trigger to try some i500's or a full set of 790's. Just waiting on a couple pics of these or at least a few more details. These sound like they could be amazing.

My sources say they will release info in the next few days on the p760 irons. In between the p750 and p770 but will have varying amounts and placement of speed foam in the 3, 4 and 5 irons. CG moved out to be more in the center of the face. Sounds like a good group of ideas to me.

Sounds like what I have been hoping for. Hope they deliver.

I bet we’ll see some pictures next week at the tour championship. I hope they drop the price by a bunch for the 770s, if they do I’m gonna grab them in 6-PW since I love my 790s in 3-5.

I doubt we see anything next week. What's the point? No one is going to change the last week of the season. My guess is probably Napa or some spot early in the new season where they have a chance to see some players put them in play.

I could see a tour pro using a full bag or at least a combo bag of 760s. Sounds like the perfect blend. I bought a set of black 790s already, but that doesn't guarantee they're safe in the bag lol!

I hope they look more like the P790’s and not like the GAPRs...

The 790's shouldn't even be considered the same series as p730-770. They belong with the M series. I hit the P770 and thought they are great irons and could easily game them. They are as nice as my z745's. They feel fantastic. I hope they continue the line and the look.

The 790s are closer to the 730-770 than they are the M series.

It's a distance iron, not a players iron. The 700 series are forged players irons. I would say they are closer to M3 irons that P770. The specs are almost identical. M3 even has less offset in mid/long irons.

It’s kind of a moot issue imo as the 790s have been a hit for professionals to mid caps. They have been a bell cow and breadwinner for TM and I can’t see them going anywhere for quite some time. I don’t think the rumored 760s are gonna replace the 790s.

They are not replacing the P790’s. TM is going with the P730’s, P760’s and P790’s. They are discontinuing both the P750s and P770s for 2019.

What about the lower loft hi-toes?

Yes, those should be coming as well. I was told the 52 and 50 would not have as high of a toe
