Random Ryder Cup Question...Do the USA or European Captains know who each player will be going up against? For example, if the USA Captain pencils in Patrick Reed to lead off singles, does he know at the time who he will play against? Or do they not find out until before the match? Same goes for foursomes. Do they just assign a group a tee time and wait and see?

Who's going to play foursomes for the USA?

Putting in the fairway off the tee is so important but the Americans struggle with their accuracy. Rickie leads the team at 54%.

Never thought I'd say this a month or so ago but based on the last couple of tournaments, Tiger's improvement in driving accuracy has made him a viable alternate shot option for Captain Furyk.

I am not sure the driving accuracy % is really relevant. From everything I have read/heard, Le Golf is more of a 2nd shot course and less likely to hit driver off the tee. All the Americans play the PGA tour and most courses want guys to hit driver on every hole they can which leads to less fairways hit. I'd assume most guys will be able to hit 2/3i or 3w off every tee and hit the fairways.

I havent looked it up, but how was the team on driving accuracy at the last couple British Opens? I think those stats might be more telling.

I just bought tickets a few days ago for Sunday. I am going to be in Paris and coming from Canada so it felt like the perfect opportunity. The tickets have not shipped yet and I leave September 27th. Should I be worried about not getting them in time? It seems impossible to talk to anyone in charge there. I'm a little worried, thanks!

Anyone? Also, I can't find any working contact number for any Ryder Cup ticket office and they don't seem to respond to emails!

They do not know who their guys will be playing until it's announced. It's totally blind. The captains submit their pairings and order of play not know what the other captains is submitting.

My question is more of pronunciation. Do you just pronounce "golf" and "national" in plain English? Do you go francais on the National and make it 4 syllables? Do you French up the word "golf" as well? If you French up the whole thing, you've got to be peerless on syllable emphasis and accent, otherwise you sound ridiculous.

Nobody knows there’s going to be a Ryder Cup’: French pro rips state of golf in France

“Golf is not a good thing here. It’s for rich people and spoiled kids. That’s the image we have,” Lorenzo-Vera told the Times. “Golf is a very private thing for people in France. Private courses for only rich families or rich people — that’s it.”

But surely some excitement is building for the arrival of one of the game’s premier events this year? Not so, says Lorenzo-Vera. “People don’t care about the Ryder Cup. Honestly, nobody knows there’s going to be a Ryder Cup in France. Only the golfers know. That’s it. There won’t be many French there.”

Get some of those British pop stars together and make a music video to increase awareness.

"Do they know it's Ryder Cup time at all?"

Bono probably needs something to do this week.

The Captain's agreement for 2018 must include a clause sending out Reed vs. Poulter as the opening singles match.

That's not surprising at all. There isn't a Frenchman on the team. Bjorn made a huge blunder with that, showing how tone deaf he is to French sensibilities. They like rooting for their guys and that's pretty much it. This will be the most British "French" Ryder Cup ever. Hopefully they won't throw rocks at each other like they've been doing lately. I would hate to see that.

Maybe this Ryder Cup the players won't be screaming and finger waving like Pro Wrestlers when they make a putt - - one can only hope.

Head of Evian Championship says "We are not a golf country."

https://www.golfdige...t-in-his-france

He estimates the number of people in France that care about golf is 400.

well at least we finally got to the root problem of what is wrong with France.....

I just got back from a wonderful week in France....5 days touring the Loire Valley, 2 days in the most beautiful city in the world, Paris.

As I predicted to my wife NO ONE cares about the Ryder Cup.

Galleries will be Americans, Brits and some northern Euros.

They're just not that into it.

why are they staging it in France then? Makes no sense unless it's a sponsor/EU thing...?
