NFL weekly pick's contest (season long) 2018

CLE +5 : Pitt was a better team last year than they are this year. Cleveland's roster has been a huge upgrade. Pitt won both meetings last year by 7 combined points. I like my brownies to cover the +5.

ATL +1.5: Nick Foles threw 6 TD's vs 1 INT in the playoffs last year; He's looked like Shane Falco in the Sugar Bowl this Pre-season. Julio looks to be healthier than hes ever been. Falcons win and cover.

Tampa/New Orleans Under 49.5: Drew Brees will be Drew Brews and Ryan Fitzpatrick will be........Ryan Fitzpatrick. Saints win 30-10.

Week 1: 0-1

Edit: 09-07-2018 4:40EST

Pitt/Cleveland Under 46.5: Tropical storm Gordon is scheduled to hit Sunday. 2-3" of rain expected. I'll take the under

Hubris: (hyu' bris), definition; when CHuntsman announces 3" of rain for the Pit/Cle game and P3P refuses to change his selection because Big Ben is a "mudder." Used in a sentence. P3P's hubris has him at 1-1 for the first week, and he feels dumb.

Chicago vs Green Bay - under 48.5 I remember when Davante Adams was GB's #3/4 receiver and Randall Cobb was young.

LA Kings vs Las Vegas Knights - under 49.5 The Raiders seem like a mess. Their score plus 4.5 does not add up to 49.

KC +3.5 vs San Diego If Alex Smith was just a "game manager" where is the downgrade in KC? Chefs have averaged 11 wins in the last 3 seasons. Gimme the points.

Minnesota -6 vs Jimmy Garappolo is so obvious that I just don't have the heart to pick that game. It's like shooting fish in a barrel ... then throwing in dynamite ... and then a high voltage electric wire.

3-0 for week 1.

Will be very interesting to see the lines for Week 2. Some VERY interesting matchups after the opening games.

Jags-Pats

Chiefs-Stillers

Panthers-Falcons

I know Cleveland fans have visions of an 0-0-16 season dancing in their heads. Tough test vs the Saints - Dream big!

Rise and Shine!... Rise and Shine!... It's raining like the tearjerker scene in Casablanca in the NOVA Metro DC area! It's been an interesting week...Wheres LeVeon???? I guess there are two camps the one camp which says he needs to be on the team and play. His agent did not help with the comments about lack of intelligence with some players. Not a good way to start the week 1prep. The other line of thought might be this guy is at the peak of his career, he wants to get paid for being the premiere bell cow in the league a true dual-threat catching and running the football, 3 down burner, and grinder! These guys are rare and usually have injury shortened careers. I say pay the man for all of his hard work and help in keeping Ben relevant for this long. The Steelers offensive line is finally decent but it was not in the early part of his career. Two wrongs do not make a right...But this is the NFL..which stands for "Not for Long" and it's a big business first over the so-called glory of the game rhetoric. The owners rake in millions and millions from TV deals, merchandise, and game-day crowds. The stars of the game drive revenues. They get screwed by the NCAA and they are one gruesome injury away from being retired. Pay the Man! He's a human battering ram!

That said

My Picks are Chiefs/Chargers over 47.5 Joey Bosa why????? This could be a fantasy football feast for many. M. Gordon, K Hunt, Mahomes, P Rivers, T Hill. But the Chargers needed Hunter Henry and J Bosa. Is Mahomes for real? Give me the over scoring should occur in a shootout.

New Orleans -9.5 Honestly, Fitzmagic is not magic. "Whoa, Nelly!" Kamara, Brees, and M Thomas fantasy starts here in Week 1.

Slobberknocker Nate Peterman, get a dictionary and you will see "slobber knocker" is what is about to happen. Put your head on a swivel.

I am rooting for the worst team in the NFL so they say.

I hope that the lowly Bills will rise like a Phoenix out of the ashes of despair. It's not going to happen today.

Not picking the Ravens..give me the under in the rain and muck (((40.5 under.)))..slobber knocker! I would love to see Peterman hang in there and connect on a few big plays to slim shady McCoy.

But Ravens should be winners here.

"Well that felt like kissing my sister"

Knowing the BIlls were not going to score hardly anything, the easiest game to predict, but I felt sorry for them and I find it hard to root against them, was not good enough to cover the under when the New High Flying Ravens full from a summer of fun and dining out on the food-laden piers at the Baltimore Inner Harbor...where many tourists and Ravens, Orioles fans go after the game to woof down some Bertha's Mussels or a bite of nice Maryland Crabcakes at Phillips in the inner harbor. Nothing like a Goslings and fresh squeezed Oj on a game day Sunday Morning with a nice order of Crab Benedict. The Saints felt the magic that is STILL IN FITZMAGIC I can't seem to get this stinky, smelly foot out of my mouth, "Whoa Nelly"

At least I got the over in the Chiefs game! Kinda like kissing my sister

Mark me down at 1-2

At least there were no ties...Big Ben and Mike Tomlin...the Kings of false hopes and broken dreams

2-1

This week we will talk porn, awkward social situations, and mouthguards.

Like Adam, I am predicting a "Stormy D does Buffalo" in a nod to Stormy D. I don't like Phillip Rivers, but the guy can sling the ball around, and Peterman? Well, he can't. I know Bosa might miss the game, but i just don't think it matters that much. Slim Shady is pre-occupied with trying to kill his girlfriend, and Buffalo just can't seem to get it going. I really don't anyone else on either team, so there it is, and the question everyone is asking, "How in the world did a porn star become the face of campaign finance legality?" Stormy SD to cover.

This summer after playing couples golf, i.e. hit and giggle, i.e. drank too much I sat at a table next to guy I wouldn't have known if he kicked me in the shins. I introduce myself, wondering how i have put myself in this horrible predicament of being tipsy and having to be mature. I explain I am P3P and he introduces himself as Marty. We talk general stuff, and as a rule, I never ask what someone does, because generally i don't care. Work doesn't define me, and i hope it doesn't define those around me. Anyway, someone else at the table notes my Steeltown roots... and off we go down the NFL rabbit hole. "Do you like the Steelers? etc." So the obligatory re-ask, "Who is your favorite team?" Marty tells me its the Ravens. No one really likes the Ravens, so I figure he is kidding. I commend him on enjoying an AFC North team, and ask him if he likes crab? As an aside, he does. So after a little talk, his friend tells me Marty is the QB coach for the Ravens. Well, now i am a little flummoxed in my slowed mental state. I ask if Joe is a good guy? He seems so stiff at the podium. Well, you would never it, but he is funny and competitive. So in a nod to drinking too much and meeting the coach, I am taking the funny and competitive Joe Flacco on the road against Andy Dalton and the Bungles.

Let's talk mouthguards. In the early 70s youth hockey outlawed the outside the mouth guard because they knew kids can get concussions just by getting their jaw hit. Now, there is a young stud slinger in the NFL who appears to wear his helmet really high on his head, leaving his jaw exposed. It could be too high, or it could be the headband he wears creates an optical illusion, I am not sure. But, you would think the only NFL player and active MD would recommend either a lower facemask, or a lower helmet, but either way this kid Mahomes can play. I refuse to pick against my team, so this is my answer to the conundrum. In a Le'Veon Bell at the strip club special, these teams are going to make it rain, and I am picking the over on a warm sunny day in the Burgh.

Have a great week.

Fun fact: The Ravens have never been tied by the Browns

Fun fact 2: Ocean City, MD is Pennsylvannia's 3rd largest city in the summer.

Pro Tip: Referring to "crab" in the singular is only done on the West coast (Dungeness, opilio, red king, etc...). It's "crabs" from NE to TX. Bonus pro tip: Just blue crab, not blue-clawed crab. <shudder>

But, on a less serious note, WTF is Marty Mornhinweg (<- it's easier to spell 'Raven's offensive coordinator', btw) doing playing golf in Montana?

Marty went to University of Montana.

There are only one type of "crabs" and they eat you, not vice versa, and they require a special shampoo.

He comes out here in the off season. Super nice guy.

LA Chargers - 7 1/2 at Buffalo o/u 43

New England - 1 1/2 at Jacksonville o/u 45

Oakland at Denver -5 1/2 o/u 46

NY Giants at Dallas -3 o/u 42

Monday Night

Seattle at Chicago -3 1/2 o/u 43 1/2

I try not to pick for/against my home team, but -1 seems too good to pass up. The Ravens looked really good last week - yeah, against the Bills. The Bengals won last week too, but vs a Colts team where Luck hadn't played since 2016, they were missing their #1 RB (well, as #1 as Indy has), and their defense has been one of the NFL's worst for the last 4 years.

The funny and competetive - and sneaky elite - Joe Flacco (now with weapons) -1

The Eagles-Bucs game (Philly -3, O/U 43.5) is screaming ... something. Maybe screaming for a starting QB. Was the Saints defense over-rated? Is Ryan Fitzpatrick under-rated? Can the Eagles defense hold the journeyman extraordinaire under 40 points? Can the Tampa D hold Philly under 30? Only 24-20 and you have the 'over'.

Give me the over 43.5

Minnesota, after their stunning defeat of Jimmy Garappolo, take on comeback kid, Aaron Rodgers. GB seems to be keeping Rodgers' health as shaded as they can. Vikes have a solid D and weapons everywhere you look on offense.

In a pick 'em game, give me the Vikes.

I am 1-2

I like the Falcons/Panthers over. Falcons lost Neal and Jones so expect some big holes in our D. Falcons will do better in the red zone this week. I see a high scoring game. Falcons win 38-28

I think the Colts beat the Redskins so I take Colts +6. Bengals got saved last week buy a late fumble and Luck now has one more game under his belt.

I like the Jets -3 over Miami. Darnold looked great. Defense looked great. And the Dolphins barely beat the titans with 3 key players injured.

I will take 49ers -5.5 Matt Patricia go back to New England you are in deep and you have no raft.

I will take the Steelers at home playing motivated -5 Ben is a different QB at home.

All my Rowdy friends will be rowdy in the windy city when Khalil Mack and the Bears give Seattle a swift kick in the a**. I feel bad for Russell Wilson, he is a supreme talent and mobile. But I don' think that is enough on the road. Bears -3.5

No totals this week.

But if I was to take one, it would be under Houston/Tenn but it's off the board LoL. Can't be wrong there!

Why does the Natty Bo man only have one eye?

Did his over consumption of Old Bay burn one of them out?
