I was getting 52-5400 rpm with a 7iron with various shafts.

 

Were those numbers obtained hitting off of a mat? If so, that can significantly reduce the spin compared to hitting off of grass.

Yes, I was aware of that issue. These numbers were very consistent though.

I've had no problems holding greens with 6 and 5 irons. I don't use the 4 iron that much after greens and can only remember doing once but hit it real low and bounced off into the back bunker. I have been very surprised at how well I've held greens overall. Most the time I'm within a couple paces of the ball mark throughout the set.

 

If you are worried about spin I think the ball makes a much bigger difference there.

No issues here either. These are still in the bag till the i500's show up and if I dont like those these go back in the bag. Mine are the black Pros with the stock matte black shaft and they hold greens just fine.

Yeah, I'm experimenting with a set of the black RP's and had no issues holding greens. I've taken the stock matte black shafts out (too soft for me) and replaced them with a set of original PX satins. Not only do they respond better, but feel incredible, as well. Let's face it, a properly struck shot, hit from the fairway, should hold just fine. The greens I played this past weekend were very firm, but still held when properly struck. In general, they would one hop and stop. Thus far.....no real issues for me. Oh yeah....did I say they were forgiving? Ridiculous compared to my X-forged.

2 months and they are still awesome. The chrome holds up and the ball goes farther than my old legacies and apex 14s. They hold greens just fine and I’m a sweeper.

Because the #s with both the RP and Cobras were very consistent in the differences.

If it were the mat issue, I would think there’d be a little more disparity with each club.....

That just means there is a consistent differences between those clubs, it doesn't really tell us how the mat might be effecting the results (for either club).

Just got the rogue pro over the weekend, had them reshafted with kbs ctaper 120S+

I had another shaft options, Dynamic Gold AMT X100 but more familiar with the ctaper and counter balanced feel

Based on indoor testing using GCQuad the spin comes off reasonably low.

However on course playing and testing, most shots landed with decent steep angle of descent thus held the greens reasonably well.

Greens were ok but quite receptive.

 

Had a quick round at my one course today.

Given the “modern” strong lofted players iron. The rogue are a full 1 club longer from my previous gamer.

Also the setup at address might seems slightly “larger” over the ball, which might not be a bad thing.

Off centered hits were super forgiving and not as punishing as the old school players irons.

Might find they are a bit too much offset but still easy enough to manouver and shape shots on demand.

 

The initial impression was that the back of the club might be too busy for most people. Not as sleek compares to let’s say Epic Pro or 2017 XForged. But this irons are design for pure brutal performance. This isn’t a beautifully crafted modern Ferraris but this is more a skyline GTR with huge twin turbos that’s definitely very modest in the looks department by comparison. Then again beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

 

Styling Man!!! Had to give my 21*ut since it could carry close to my 17* hybrid.

Because it would seem its a fair comparison. Obviously one spins less than the other with same shafts and same mats......

That is my only concern with them. Especially with the 50% trade bonus from Cally.

I think I'm just going to go for it, and use the 90 day playability thing if they don't work out.

Should be good with those, even with the lower spin.

I went back and checked with the 7i iron and was consistently at 45/46* descent angle.
