Callaway really needs to change it up with the irons. Apex irons have got worse in my opinion. Rebrand them and start fresh.

 

I agree I didn't like the apex pro 16 as much as my original apex pros. and seeing as they are on a 2 year life cycle I couldn't wait 6 years for new irons so when the x-forged 18s came out I had to get them, I have been happy with them but i'll definitely check out the new apex pros when they are released.

the CF16 were no better at all (I think a little worse actually now that I think about it)

 

I switched from the 850F's to the CF16's and couldn't be happier. Transition from 7-8-9 is perfect and loved the improved feel.

They released some new wedges today. Well just the finish was changed. I am digging it. If they released in 46*, I would pick it up in a heartbeat but, my 50 and 54 are too new for replacing.

Won’t happen but I’d be totally fine if Callaway didn’t release a driver. They had so many offerings and a few of them are really good. Sort of feels like they are TaylorMade 2.0.

I agree. I can't image they have surveys that your average golfer wants more drivers. I'm a ho, Rogue is it for me (I hope) I play weekly with my stepfather and we're paired with 2-3 golfers. 95% of them have drivers at least 3 years old.

I distinctly remember them claiming the XR line was dead. Obviously they could bring it back anytime. But, after them making that claim, I wouldn't expect a direct replacement so soon. Maybe under a different name though?

Rogue replaced XR here in the US. They did release XR speed in Europe. I don’t think it was ever released here in the US.....although Hideki Son was playing/ testing it....guess we will have to wait and see......

While I prefer the composite feel, I know there are those that don't. Why they abandoned the all titanium model is beyond me. I still see a lot of XR variations out in the wild. They seemed to be good sellers.

Epic, epic SZ and Epic Star (even though that star and epic iron seemed like money grabs due to the price.)

Harry coming here was doomed from the start. Constructive criticism basically wasn’t allowed due to Cally’s sponsorship, and there was nothing in it for Callaway to come here and market their clubs.

Funny, I saw it differently. Seemed that people went out of their way to be rude or crap on old marketing campaigns. We only hurt ourselves when we run off industry insiders. Duh.

 

I don’t feel like it went down like that. Most people were respectful and grateful to Harry/Callaway for getting some inside info. There were a few rabble rousers but nothing too serious.

 

It did seem that Harry got offended when people criticized Callaway’s marketing strategies, but why wouldn’t he? Surely he expected some of that. Again, most of the users here were respectful in my opinion.

 

I don’t personally care if industry insiders don’t feel that it’s worth their time to post here. All the relevant info comes out in the wash.

PM 2.0 is coming but most likely at the start of 2019 (more offset, new grooves). The new MD Forged that leaked on here a few weeks back will most likely be a Japan release only and not make it to the US retail market. MD5 development is just getting started.
