Picked up this Wilson Staff set from 60s?

Browsing the golf section of the local classifieds app (kijiji) like I do several times a day, and came across this full set and carry bag, guy was asking 45$. So I inquired as I've been looking for an old set of Wilson blades to kinda "restore" and also been looking for a carry bag. Ended up giving the guy 40 bucks, and I'm pretty stoked on these old clubs. They appear to me to have all original grips and shafts, and are in pretty great shape for their age I think. Just curious what year you guys would think these are, be a hoot to go and try and play a round with them I think. The putter is a "Arnold Palmer PERSONAL" Cambell model, with grip rite flat fronted grip. Pretty neat, think I'm gonna clean them up nice and maybe try redoing the paint fill. Maybe make a nice wood display case and put them on the wall (I'm single lol)

Sleuthing on iron finder. They're 1966 Staffs. Two hash marks is the tell. Look to be in quite pristine shape. Rare to find shaft bands in that condition. Clean the grips, apply a coat of leather conditioner (Lexol) to preserve. Hit 'em once before you hang 'em.

Thanks for the info! Its Driver, 3 wood, 4 wood, and 2-9. No PW, maybe I'll try and source one in the future. They are very short though, like a full inch maybe 1 1/4" shorter than my modern gamers. Is this normal of old clubs like this? Or could they maybe have been built then for a short fella?

I’d guess a 37” 5 iron would be close to std men’s length. Clubs look great!

I would actively look for that PW, but realize that the 9-iron in this set is really the equivalent of today's modern PW anyway.

When you say "2 hashmarks" what are you referring to?

 

I think I know, but would just like clarification, since I don't have any of the identification books. My ex thought they were something to sell in a yard sale.

I think the 2 vertical grey lines between the lettering and the WS crest, are what they refer to as the identifiers for 1966 models.

Hell, the 8 iron in these Staffs is likely comparable to a modern PW. With the trend towards ever stronger lofts in irons these days. Maybe someday I'll be able to hit a PW 170 yards. If I stick around long enough. Or place a label over a 5 iron that's marked "PW". Yeah, that's the ticket.

I don't think the putter is a Wilson, has CAMPBELL stamped on the bottom.

I have a set of those,(3-Pw) and the 5 iron in the '66 Hashtag Wilson Staff is 30* loft and 37.5 length

 

mine are the Pro shaft in reg flex, and these are very playable.

Great find!!! Randy is gonna flip when he comes back off of "debarkation" ----- Glad to see some of these great old clubs coming to light and being saved by people that love and appreciate them. Shoot that stand bag alone was worth the price you paid for the whole shooting match
