New Wishon's

The Pearl

Recommended Posts

Finally pulled the trigger on the new model Wishon 565 MC Forged. I had the previous model for several years. I also upgraded the 3,4, and 7 wood and I am trying a new 919 Driver with 13 degrees loft and a lighter shaft (Wishon Blue series)

I can't stress enough the quality of golf club that Tom produces and the benefits of getting custom fit. The value is off the charts compared to the OEM's.

If you have been on the fence regarding getting fit with a Wishon fitter, I urge you to pull the trigger.

These have been on my radar for a while. I love my 745s but I'm getting to the point where I can't practice as much as I could so a more forgiving iron wouldn't hurt. Do you happen to have any address pictures, mainly the PW, 7 and 4I? I played the 560s several years ago and loved them but wondered how the 565s looked at address.

I'd love to try the 565's to see how they compare to my DBM's. What does a custom fit 5-GW run?

It's really good equipment, but FYI, I'm pretty sure that Tom Wishon is no longer involved. He sold the company to a European outfit, Diamond Golf International.....in the UK, I think. There's a thread in here somewhere about it.

I think the 565 is an aesthetically improvement, but I wonder how performance compares to the 560. Someday I'll pick up a set of the former, but I need to wear out my 560s first.

He still does the design work for diamond, but the biz side is in diamonds hands. He/they are planning some good things for 2019

Bought 555MB's with a full custom fitting about 9 years ago. 8 irons ran me about $1,600. I hated them immensely and was stuck with clubs with no resale value. They are in my garage as a reminder to avoid snake oil. It has shaped my opinion of exhaustive custom fitting as junk science, so while I was stung by the hit, I feel in the long run I am saving money.

It's not Wishons fault you got suckered into spending $1600. He offers pretty affordable packages in general.

I respect Wishon greatly. Yes,

The resale value is terrible but that is not indicative of the quality.

I'm surprised that you somehow went through a fitting and decided to proceed with this iron model and then decided that you hated them immensely.

Seems like a poorly done fitting, or maybe bad communication, but that doesn't sound like its indicative of Wishon quality or lack thereof.

Or poor judgment to make the purchase in the first place.

My only knock on Wishon is the lack of left handed options. What I have played of his I really enjoy. The Sterling irons have been fantastic for me.

Main just what the longer irons look like at address? The 560s had a thin topfile and the 4I looked really good with very little offset. The 3I looked good too but you could see the back flange a little but if I were to go with the 565s I wouldn't to with a 3I.

Yes Tom is very much still involved in the clubhead design for us. As for the quality, we aim to maintain the very high standards set by Tom, we continue to use the same foundries as Tom and they are indeed foundries I have worked with in the past...watch this space!!

They look really good. Think i might've hit one a while ago at TW place in UK.

Are they MOI matched too?

WRONG WRONG WRONG !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Diamond Golf took over the day to day operation of the sales and marketing and distribution. I still do the product development which means I still do all the design work for my product line.

I am SEMI - retired only !

I wish 565 mc’s had more bounce, a little less offset ( they have more in real life vs. on paper ) then they would be PERFECT in my eyes..

Side note.. and not to thread jack, if you’re a clubmaker with an account with diamond golf, keep accurate records of what you bought. I was double charged for a wedge order and they never fixed the issue.. Anyhow Wishon makes great irons ??

Enjoy your new Wishon set! I have played the 560's for a few years and the 575's about 6 years. GREAT designs, they hold up very well and I believe you'll find the 565's smooth and forgiving. Those 929 fairways are very, very good and long too.

Congrats on your new set!
