Getting old OLD clubs back

I like the old JZ and ZZ65 shafts a lot, they had something going there. Still feel good all these years later

Recently I re-acquired a VSteel 3W to go with the VSteel 5W that's in the bag. They are such great clubs and I really have no idea of why they ever got removed, other than for the shiny/new factor.

When I first started playing, there was a used set of ISI blue dot irons (3-LW) on the used rack that I wanted so badly but didn't have my savings with me. I went back the next day and they were gone. I went with a set of i3+ Blades (current model at the time), but still always wanted a set of ISI's.

Had 2 sets of Hogan Apex Pros. Traded both to CPO for a set of Fusions. Of course bought another set of Apex Pros which I'm not parting with. This is WRX after all...

Sold my beloved eye2s...stupid decision that was! Anyway, after years of naffing around with different iron models I just got them back... Made in 89 and they're still the best!

great thread OP ..... weve all done it to one extent or the other...Myself twice with a certain center shafted tour played Mannkrafted putter....and i found it a third time....someone had it converted to heel shaft and ruined her in my opinion..I should have kept it !!!

 

Ive also gone back to a proto set of titleist 681 more times than i can count...i only sold them once..lol and since they are worn out i cant sell them now so they stay... And i know someone whos owned every 962B iron set ever made...LOL hilarious to me that we each know what works and yet we keep looking....

Recently gave my isi pings to my son with the disclaimer do not get rid of them. It’s the only set of irons that are on the “do not sell list” lol

Have owned quite a few sets of 962b?, even sold my primary set of them to a friend when stopped playing tournament golf- getting that set back two weeks later.? Also have owned and used just a few Founders 200 series blades and Ping Zing2 putters.

Couldn't count the number of clubs I have bought, sold, traded, repaired, or modified. Always a few clubs you think back on and wonder why you ever got rid of it. One such club for me was a Nike T40 Tour 3wood, which I pulled the stock shaft and dropped my fav shaft at the time, a Grafalloy Pro Lite S fairway shaft. I use to mark my initials on reshafts slightly above the bottom of the grip just to identify them as my work. Well, early Spring, some 14 years later, I'm checking out used clubs at local independent golf shop, and a T40 Tour 3 wood is sitting in the used rack. Pull her out, same Pro Lite shaft, original Nike grip, which for some reason I always like liked. Yep, under the grip my initials. Spent $25 bucks and regained a great club and memory of my earlier club making years. Still a great performing club just like I remembered. Think I will keep it this second time.

I few years ago I traded in my Mizuno TP-9’s and in the spring ended up buying them back from the shop, luckily Lefty Blades aren’t a huge seller around here. :)
