The new Titleist TS2 & TS3 fairway woods

Thankfully I love my 917 fairway wood, it's the best I've ever owned. The driver on the other had will get a chance to compete for the starting job.

Fairway: Titleist 917F2

Had my fitting yesterday for the TS line via Titleist PGA Staff day in East Tennessee. I wrote about my experience with the driver in the other "spotted at US Open" forum.

The two fairways are distinctively different in adjustability and as I currently swing the best head/shaft combo in a 3-wood I'ver ever hit, the TS3 fairway saw an increase in 2 mph ball speed and higher launch. This did not translate into more distance however because my 917 F2 is a rocket. Looks and sound are awesome, the best ever. The TS2 fairway was extremely easy to hit, very fast ball speed, and got up fast. Too much elevation for me in the TS2 however.

How would compare the shapes of TS2/3 to 917F2/3? Is it the same?

TS2: larger footprint shallower face (like 917F2)

TS3: smaller footprint slightly deeper face (like 917F3)

To be honest I think the size is the same on the TS2/3. The TS3 has the classic shape with more bulge/roll and the TS2 is the new "modern" shape and appears to have a much flatter face, less bulge/roll, which is similar to the look of the drivers. It was described that the forgiveness of the the TS3 is what the 917 F2 is currently and the TS2 is built like the driver... easy launch and max forgiveness. Basically the 917 F3 concept goes "bye bye".

Yeah from the pics the seem to look a lot a like size/footprint, and face depth. Thanks for your driver and fairway reviews.

Finally had a chance to hit the new TS drivers and fairway metals....I did not think they could do better than the 917, but they did. Sound and feel are amazing plus the fairway metals almost launch the ball in the sky easily off turf. Wait till you hit'em...I think you will be very surprised.

First review. I prefer Golfalot to the others. Gives you all the info you need and doesn't take twenty five minutes to do it.

Love the fact that Titleist went back to more traditional lengths in these clubs: 42.5" 4w, 42" 5w. Kudos to Titleist for doing what will benefit a broader range of golfers instead of selling pure distance.

As a life long Mizuno player, really disappointed they went longer in the 919 iron release this year. I was at my golf shop yesterday and measured the new 919 and they now sit in the longest length category. When measuring 919 forged against AP3, the 919 is 1/4" longer. Not a huge deal I know but when getting back to more traditional lengths at 1/4 or 1/2" shorter, the amount of weight needed to get these back to D2+ gets more and more difficult.

I'm wayyy overdue for a bag rebuild and with the intro of AP3s and now the TS fairway introduction, looks like I could be building an all Titleist bag this winter!

Nice work Titleist!

Hit these at Roger Dunn yesterday with the stock Kuro Kage. TS3 definitely suited me better than TS2, though both were extremely low spin for me (105 SS, ~1700 average spin @ 11 degrees, ~14 deg launch). Great sound and feel. Not a massive fan of the Titleist shape.

I'm reworking my driver swing at the moment, and for whatever reason, am not spinning the ball at all though I'm only hitting up 1 degree or so. Clearly a swing / fitting issue, though it will still be tough to knock the G400 out of the bag.

I haven’t owned a Titleist driver or fairway in years, but I’ll definitely be getting fitted for the new fairway. Mainly so I can get the lone TM club out of my bag and get back to a normal looking fairway! I hit the 917 line, didn’t like the driver , but did like the look of the F2 fairways, but I got better flight and distance with the Rogue, and then the M3 as well.

Hit both today. The TS3 is a perfect 10 in the looks department with the TS2 being a 9.5. Performance wise, the TS2 was the clear winner. Incredible feel, long, and forgiving. I was getting a penetrating flight and 250 yds total distance with the 15* / Smoke stiff. That blows away any 3w I've ever tried. I see myself getting the 16.5 for a little more versatility and slightly higher launch. A real winner.

These are some of the best sounding fairway woods I've hit in a long time. Performance wise: haven't played enough to give an accurate review. Although everyone whose has demoed it, say they're hot. And the headcovers for these and the drivers are the nicest I've ever seen, BAR NONE!

I was skeptical about the 16.5 that the fitter was trying to put me into, but couldn’t ignore the numbers. Guess I’m at the age where I need help with launch to get the carry I need. Look great and sound great, too. Hard to pony up $300 for a club I hit twice per round at most but tempted to upgrade the 917.

I went TS2 as well. Have always played f2 woods. Tried both TS2 and TS3 15 degrees at a Titleist Thursday. With the same exact shafts (Tensei 60) the TS2 flew higher and straighter. And was more forgiving. TS2 is more like the F2.

The big difference in the two is placement of the weight. For the TS2 the weight is all the way in the back which makes he ball fly higher and makes it more forgiving. The TS3 weight for the wood is really close to the face, which lowers spin, lowers flight and makes it less forgiving.
