I think the concept badge is stuck on to cover something. Look at the lower right edge and you can see what looks like the tip of a letter underneath.....or something underneath.

Now that you mention it I see it, and pray your right. That CNCPT badge is terrible espicially with swirl marks/CNC milled marks. to the left of that badge.

It actually looks like it’s where some sort of recessed line ends. Maybe the end of a milling mark.

One could easily argue the that the P790 is TM's answer to the T-MB.

Without the extreme price tag though.

Yep - apparently only 300 sets in Canada. Not sure how many total.

... I never understand how the back of a club can garner so many opinions. How thick is the topline and sole? How long is it heel to toe? What kind of steel is it made from? What are the lofts? How much offset? None of these are answered by a picture of the back of a club yet so many love or hate them because of a useless picture.

The irony here is - my guess - some of the same people that love these would drill a company like TM if they released the same thing.

 

My guess is some of the drilling that you speak of (if it was TM) would be because it's TaylorMade's 26th new iron set in the last 2 years and pretty much the exact club they've already put to market only with different badging...

 

...And a "cool new must-have attribute that will lead to better everything!!!!" that we've all seen over and over and over. RIBCOR, SpeedFoam, Twist-Face... it goes on and on and on... where they tell us this month it's speedfoam that is a must have and next month it's something else.

 

With all that said— and everyone knowing that I've been a Titleist fan since I was 13 years old these look to be a "HARD NO" from me as well. They don't look great from the parts you can see, I dislike the name— especially hate CNCPT, SLDR, etc where they shorten the name by taking out the vowels. It looks very tacky to me. These may end up being better playing than they look but as of now... NO.

just depends what their previous irons were. When I got fit earlier this year, p790 were 7 miles an hour faster than most irons including PXG gen 1. Rogue pro were closest, they were only 3 miles an hour slower. So if they have that jump on the p790's, we'll that would be amazing.

Not sure I would call them beautiful, but they aren’t ugly anymore. Interested to see who or what these are targeted for given as someone said above, we don’t know what that speed increase was measured against.
