If true, it could be a Srixon club deal with Puma apparel. Similar to the Nike deals.

Except Puma owns Cobra so that’s never happen. All puma players are also Cobra

Gary Woodland? Looks like he wears Puma and clearly plays a mixed bag.

Gary has worn adidas and Nike as well this year. To my knowledge he’s not on a contract with Puma, at least not yet

Woodland is clothing free agent.

So naked and working for MI5?

There is a rumour floating around of Justin Rose moving to Honma

Might make sense with Mark King running Honma NA and they were rumored to be making a push onto Tour

I just made a post on this, so sorry for doubling up, but a source I trust has said today this is a done deal. I just assumed he called me from work after day drinking, but crazier s*** has happened in the golf world.

Rose and?

If Rickie leaves Cobra/Puma, where would he go that makes more sense...Srixon/Cleveland or Titleist/UA like Speith? I could see him playing their clubs and wearing that stuff.

I'm a big Cobra fan, but didn't by any of their clubs (or any clubs) based on some pro. I used to work golf retail and did fittings, never once did I have someone ask to play a club based on some pro's bag.

Well this thread is off to a good start and no one has mentioned PXG yet!

Well this thread is off to a good start and no one has mentioned PXG yet!

just my opinion.... it seems like PXG is following the Ping model; target the young players before they reach the PGA tour ....for example Wyndham Clark earned his tour card & he's been bagging PXG since turning pro....

PXG signed some veterans when they started business a few years ago but it doesn't seem like they're agressively pursuing the equipment free agents

something to watch is their commitment to college programs & the players they produce... Clark came from Oregon and Oklahoma's top player (name escapes me, but he's a talent) plays PXG equipment

would srixon do a ball only deal? if so, i could see the op being partially right (well, right is pure speculation, so maybe more just saying it makes sense). zstar is as good as any other premium ball and rickie Would Be a great way to market it, especially to younger players that maybe arent as attached to brands theyve played for years.

I believe they do this with Cameron Champ who plays the Srixon Z Star XV while playing Ping clubs

Yeah the definitely do, Jimenez is in the same boat, plays PING clubs but a Srixon ball and has done for some time.

Great thread aside from the topic which started it and the amount of absurdity in it. So people don’t buy clubs based on what tour players play? So what exactly is the point in companies endorsing players?

Here, I’ll go ahead and admit it, even I am at least a little bit influenced by it.

And Ricky leaving Puma/Cobra is utterly preposterous. I’d say the only player more synonymous with a particular brand is Tiger.

PXG is not unique in that aspect.

Multiple club companies are very generous to the amateur ranks.

For instance, Justin Thomas and Jordan Spieth have been with Titleist since their younger days.

Agreed. There isn't another brand where he'd be a natural fit. In terms of clubs, Cobra probably has the least exposure around in terms of club golfers bags. That has changed slightly up here as one expanding retailer has been massively incentivised to fit anyone that comes in into cobra clubs. So I don't see him leaving impacting sales too much.

I do think it would hurt their apparel side though. Now I wear Puma golf gear and nothing else on course. But when I travel and play, particularly in the States, it's pretty much all I see young golfers (kids thru college students) wearing is Puma. Rickie orange, the road map shirts, everything. If he left the apparel side I struggle to see how they'd sell anything given he is pretty much "it" in terms of tour presence.

Except in those pictures, he has all Mizuno irons in a Mizuno staff bag.

Titleist hat would tend to suggest that something is in the offing.
