Jones Utility Rover Bag 2018

Recommended Posts

Can anyone comment on how these bags hold up on dewey days? Does the underside of the bag provide decent moisture protection? I'm really on the fence between this and the Trouper, just trying to decide if it is worth the extra $$ and weight to get the stand.

Mine had held up just fine although I did buy some trestle sticks for those soggy mornings.

Thanks - do you have pics of the trestle sticks attached?

How do these hold up on push carts? My ideal would be to have one bag for everything, and I push sometimes so this would be great if it can multipurpose!

I'd like to see the Jones take on a cart bag with side pockets and individual club slots.

I'd like to see one made in the Jones minimalist style.

Ever look at the Japanese brand bags on Tour Spec?

They don't seem to make cart format bags at all.

Titleist PT___13, 17, 20, 23º fwy wds (stock Titleist MG-307 graphite)
Mizuno Fli Hi___18º driving iron (Aldila NV Pro 105)
Titleist DCI 962___#s 5-9 (Aldila NV Pro 105)
Cleveland 588___49, 53º wedges (Aldila NV Pro 105).
Cleveland 691___58º wedge (Aldila NV Pro 105)
something from my bag of putters--they all suck.

You're a few years too late. They used to offer them but must have not sold well enough.

What are you doing with the pockets? With all the options, easy to overload and defeat the purpose of a lightweight bag.

The flap pocket is big but not very usable if you don’t carry any “ beverages”. You could easily carry 20 balls in that thing!

Love the bag though and carry 10 clubs for winter golf - D, 4 wood, 3 hybrid, 4,6,8 irons, P, 52 and 58 wedges, putter. 15 lbs and great for walking.

This might be by next bag. Trying to go more minimalist (with the bag and what I carry, not amount of clubs), and go away from my 5.8lb sun mountain bags. I 50/50 walk/ride, and when I do walk, its 95% on a push cart. Have you used this bag on a push cart yet? Any experiences you can share from that? Assuming it's got enough structure to fit on a regular cart with no issues?

If riding or push cart, I'd think something with at least a little structure to it would make more sense. There are plenty of options lighter than 5.8 lbs that have structure to them. Sun Mtn 3.5LS, 2.5+, PING Hoofer Lite, PING 4 Series are ones I'm familiar with

PING i20 10.5*

Adams a7 19*, 22*

Maltby TS3 Forged 5-9

Vokey SM7 46F, 52F, 58M

PING BeCu Anser

Srixon QST

It will work on a cart if you have to - this was a quick nine.

Never tried it on a push cart.

Great thanks. I think if it'd work on a regular cart it should also work on a push cart. This one has the rigid spine right, different from the fully soft Original bags? Also, is that 14 clubs you have in there on the cart?

It should work on a push cart in a pinch. I just use it for walking with 10 clubs but will fit 14 if required. The backpack straps are really comfortable but finicky to get right. Like most Jones bags using a single strap works well also.

The vinyl black underbelly and pocket also helps with dirt issues but wish there was an all black bag. Compared to other Jones bags, this one is more usable and less nostalgic if that makes sense.

Yeah that makes sense. I was kind of looking at this as a more usable and less nostalgic bag, so this seems good. I'm assuming you can also take one of the straps off and just use it as a single strap? How do you think the bag would travel in an airline travel bag? Looking to also not have to carry something so big and heavy when I travel to play. Thanks for all of your replies and help!

Players has a spine, original doesn't, don't know about rover. I've had the players and the original and I like the original best (long garment compartment, 3 dividers).

The rover does have a spine and can be used on a riding cart if required. A black version would’ve been awesome.

Even though I do like the backpack straps, lately I’ve been using the single strap only and using my left hand to support the bag at the bottom - there is a strap there for that purpose. Perfect bag
