Holy Grail Putters and what do collectors look for?

I know I am sort of a newb on here, but the only way to learn is ask. I have been Buying Selling and collecting for 1 year and was wondering about these 3. I have a hard time thinking about letting them go. The ZT Response Putter I always will think its Jack's Missing putter (which is probably not true) so ill probably keep. The other 2 have me wondering if they will be a highly valued collectors item in the future. I know what they are worth now but will they go up in value? Thanks for any positive responses.

Rule #1- Condition is everything.

MacGregor made a few variations of the Clay Long designed Response ZT putter. Am not sure yours is the model Jack used.

Your PING DaleHead Anser is not the original with Scottsdale Address, but you can see it in the 50 _ years of copies currently on the market. At one time there was a website showing values of PING putters

Your Wilson Designed by Arnold Palmer (DBAP) remains very collectible, as it was made before 1963 (Palmers contract with Wilson ended that year), and at one time the DBAP model was going for $$$$.

Again, remember Rule #1.

Pretty nice Wilson DBAP blade. This became the 8802/8813 after Palmer parted ways with Wilson. Do NOT get rid of this club. Despite values of many classic clubs having been decimated over the decades, these are still sought after. Put a putter cover on it and go play 18 with a soft cover ball. The story goes that Wilson used scrap metal to make these and early 8802’s and 8813’s so they have softer feel then later versions that had differently sourced steel.

The one you want to keep is the one I'd dump. But I collect for the merits of the putter and not for the value.

That Dalehead is a great putter and will continue to be so. It's the influence of countless copies.

The DBAP is a classic, even more so because Mr. Palmer has passed on. These are obvious when they have been refinished and rechromed because NOBODY used covers back then. If you find a perfect DBAP, it's been restored. Though I've seen a few with very little use.

The Wilson DbAP was and always will, IMO, be in the top 5 ( and maybe top 3) of all collectible vintage putters. there are 2 iterations of this putter. The other one is identical, except the sole is stamped Wilson Arnold Palmer, without the "designed by" stampings. both very collectible.

I don't know much about collecting, but I've found, if I have it, it isn't worth anything.

Last week, the SIL had a yard sale. I gave the missus a few nice pyratone clubs from the 1930's, including a set of three Robt T. Jones woods, that I refinished, due to being pretty scuffed up. Came out looking great.

Some jerk went on and on, about how HE only collected pristine collectibles, and wouldn't want them for free.

Needless to say, my clubs are back home where they are wanted.

Its 32" long, so I'm assuming it's a child's model. I may lengthen it just to increase the swingweight, but that option destroys the original grip.

A couple ideas. Try and remove the grip with a removal tool. Can be done, but gets tricky depending on the condition of the grip. They can easily begin to disintegrate. Another alternative is to replace the entire shaft. Easy removal with some some heat. Not sure what diameter shaft is in a Radial Jr., but I have a brass Radial and it's most assuredly not a pencil tip. So likely .355 or possibly .370.

Hogan made great irons and persimmons. Never been particularly enamored with the putters. Other than the Hoganardi's. The Radial is a nice looking 8802 style, but do not putt particularly well with heel shafted blade putters. So likely permanently consigned to the putter bag.

Thanks. I have a compressed air setup (Golfworks) for grip removal, but have not had much luck with OLD grips. I'm not worried about resale - I'd rather use the putter. I may just cut the grip off, add some weight down the shaft, lengthen it a bit and regrip.

The only so called "Holy Grail Putters" that fetch really BIG bucks are from PING..............They are both the dale head style and both have signatures on the sole (Gary Player and Jack Nicklaus) both are well over $1,000. The original very first PING offering of a putter (I think there's only 2 every made) will bring mucho deniro, but I doubt they will ever show up at your local Goodwill or play it again sports.

I love the Geo Low and have a Wilson copy for the sole reason that Jack used it, but I think he won 1 or 2 of his early ones with another putter-some iteration of a Bullseye called White Fang.
