Heavenwood?

What defines a heavenwood? I see from specs it’s a fairway wood with higher loft given its shaft length. So like 5-7 wood loft with 3-5 wood shaft length? Anything unusual about the head?

I’m thinking it’s like a 4-wood but with even more loft to really get it airborne. Seems to be everyone’s next longest club after driver.

My understanding is that it is a 7 wood head on a 4 wood shaft that plays to approximately a 5 wood that is easier to launch and works for more turf conditions…

The term “Heavenwood“ is a Callaway thing… I’m not sure if you could make your own Frankenclub by taking, let’s say a Ping 7 Wood and sticking up 4 wood shaft in it...

But this is WRX, so I’m sure someone has tried…

Actually the head is is more like a 4 wood size too. Modern 7 woodish loft (standard 20 degrees, adjustable) on a 4 wood shaft. For example the Great Big Bertha Heavenwood has a 165cc head, 42.75". The 7 wood has 145cc (42") and 5 wood 155cc (42.5").

The M2 "5HL" another poster mentioned here is more like what I would call a "modern loft" 7 wood specs, 145cc, 21°, 42.25 inches .

Ping already has one (kinda sorta). I may be repeating a bit but:

I mentioned in this thread or another one that the G SFT 5 wood for me was an easy to launch "Heavenwood" equivalent. Largish head, (165cc) close to "Heavenwood" length (42.5"), and stock 19° (adjustable). Certainly it worked better for me than either of the Callaway Heavenwoods I tried , V series and GBB.

Part of that I'm sure was the stock Reg <60g Hevenwood shafts I used that I found just too soft with my modest swingspeed/transition. The Ping G fairway shafts are 64g Regular. However I found the G SFT a bit spinny and overly draw based and also was probably too close in distance to my G400 SFT 3 wood. So I traded it for the smaller head and shorter shaft G 7 wood that I think is more versatile both from head size and shaft length. Little distance difference for me. (I haven't tried the G400 SFT 5 wood, but the 3 wood doesn't seem overly draw-based.)

Good choice. I carry the Rogue 4 woo and Heavenwood Basically the same club with 3 degrees separation.

I have the Steelhead XR one as well as the 4+ wood and they both are so easy to hit and long!

You guys wore me down. I just ordered a GBB Heavenwood with the KK 50 in "very good" condition from CPO.

We'll see how it fares against my G 7 wood and up to the TEE EX10 4 wood that I think has kicked out my G400 SFT 16 degree for now.

I bought, then traded a G SFT 5 wood for an almost new G 7 wood earlier this season. There probably isn't much total distance difference between the two, at least at my swingspeed, and I was conscious avoiding the lefts with the 5 SFT. But I've missed the extra easy height and carry the 5 SFT provided, perhaps from the extra spin. I thought of it as Ping's Heavenwood equivalent, with similar loft, shaft length and headsize.

I also find the G fairways (not so much the hybrids) a bit "harsh" compared to the G400. Since I've been battling a bad back all season that has kept me off the course a lot, a softer feel wouldn't be a bad thing. We'll see.

^^^

I updated on Sept 7 (post 27 in this thread) that GBB Heavenwood didn't work out for me. Don't really like the look at address which could be part of it.

I have been playing the G 7wood that I like for a couple of months.

However I decided that the G SFT 5 wood (that I traded in on the 7wood) really is the club that I like better, (height, gapping, consistency from fairway) though it bears watching any left tendency a bit. As I said elsewhere in this thread, it is pretty much a Ping "heavenwood equivalent" IMO.

I shouldn't have traded it in when I bought the 7 wood, (don't like extra clubs hanging around) and it isn't at the store now. However I found a mint G 5 SFT on eBay today and it's on the way. (This time though I'm keeping the 7wood in closet standby. lol)
