Is there a reason Europe is wearing burnt orange?

I've been going back and forth on that RLX pullover that Koepka was wearing today for the last couple months. After seeing it live and realizing the camo was actually the layout of the different holes at Le Golf National now I decided that I'm in despite the high price. But damn it if I didn't wait too long and it's sold out everywhere now!

 

I wanted one too & missed out. I’m actually onsite & they don’t even have it in the fan expo superstore. In fact, the RLX stuff is all pretty much gone. Curiously, the Galvin Green, Abacus, Proquip and other higher end stuff is still plentiful.

 

By the way, at the risk of starting a firestorm because I didn’t take pics, why is no one talking about the shoes? Nike has two lineups with colors I haven’t seen before in multiple shoes. Tour Premiere is what I noticed. There’s one with camo accents in olive (not the PGA blue ones) and one with camo accents & translucent red soles. Are those not RC limited editions? There’s also a gold Tour 360 and lots of RC Footjoys with the crown trophy printed on them.

Burnt orange is describing is nicely, I would have had it down more as rust. Definitely one of the worst Ryder Cup outfits I can remember seeing. Still, at least the Euro players only looked rusty and didn't play like it.

Agree. I understand the French colors, but burnt orange made no sense. Gotta stay with the Euro colors

My two cents on uniforms:

 

America looks pretty predictable and standard...fails for me are pinstripe pants (ok with suits only, not on golf course!), too skinny pants for some players (look like leggings almost), and very long four button placket which made the shirt look like a womens or kids piece of clothing. Also, polo shirts should never be worn with top button closed...Tiger and Bubba both did, and it looks bad. i really liked the Camo zip, as well as all the outerwear tops.

 

Europe has weird rust orange color with odd patterns, and single button placket. But Loro Piana has the worlds best cashmere and fabrics...would love to have some of these items, but they probably cost $25K for the entire outfit, if not more.

Ryder cup website has the generic licensed crap (make sure you switch to Euro setting if you are in the US) but for some reason they do not have the official polos worn each day. They used to release each polo each day played (Fri,Sat,Sun). I don’t think I would buy the “burnt orange” one, LOL

You're not going to be able to find any of it. The gear has been made by Loro Piana and even if you could find it, the price of it would make your eyes water. Really disappointing decision by Ryder Cup Europe to go down that route when it comes to clothing. I even found out that the horrible burnt orange/rust colour they wore on Saturday was because that is the brand colour of Loro Piana. I know the Ryder Cup was sold out a long time ago but seeing it done in such a blatant way is sad. What next, the European team to be glad in nothing but Burberry checks?

Loro Piana came on board in 2016. Prior to that they had worn Glenmuir for as long as I can remember. Glenmuir make some nice, if boring, stuff but it was certainly never hugely pricey.

Would rather stick to my Glenmuir polos... still wearing the 2010 Sunday polo here and there, many washes and still feels and looks great.
