Here are a couple from the '93 Ryder Cup, one of the best Ryder Cups IMO, and the last time the Americans won on European soil. A really well played match from two great teams, with none of the '91 bombast.

Little known fact, Tom Kite donated those glasses to NASA for use in the Hubble Telescope.

1975 US Ryder Cup Team

Wow

Murph rockin' the long(ish) hair - it was, after all, 1975.

Miller looks like a high schooler

And JC Snead (without his hat) looks as happy as a Snead

Imagine being the other team and playing four ball against Floyd/Trevino or Nicklaus/Miller.....

I think it was a few years after that picture from '75, but Watson/Nicklaus teamed up for a few matches and no one could beat them.

1975 US Ryder Cup Team

Wow

I count 50+ majors!! wow.Imagine watson on that team.

Not entirely sure if this is accurate or not, as it was ages ago, but I think I remember something about Watson would've qualified for that '75 team on points but there was some sort of PGA service time minimum where he hadn't been on tour long enough to be eligible for it.

Sorry if I didn't word that clearly--I wasn't doubting the accuracy of your post at all, I was doubting the accuracy of my memory about there being some sort of arcane service time rule that kept Watson off that '75 team.

I'm not the type to quibble about 48 vs. 50 majors in one picture :)

To be fair, Trevino had just fatally ripped his heart out...

Jacklin would never be the same...

Oh what a swing he had..

Didn't that same rule keep Jack from playing in a RC at the start of his career as well?

It kept Palmer off the team in 1957 and 1959.

Jack missed out in 1963 and 1965 due to the rule. He missed in 1967 because by the time he started to get points in late 1966 he went into a slump. The Ryder Cup standings were final after the 1967 Masters and Jack finished outside the top 10 (only 10 team members) with no Captain's picks. Two months later he won the US Open.

If the rule were still in place this would have been Jordan Spieth's first Ryder Cup.

And who knows....we might have fared a bit better as a USA team than we actually did
