What putter did you just buy ?

Recommended Posts

About 6 months back, I sold my PING Redwood platinum Anser. It was a terrible decision. I convinced myself that I had to have a putter with grooves/technology so I moved it on. While I am not discounting the concept of grooves/technology, I struggled to notice a big difference in my putting. The Redwood satin Anser finish is proabably more durable but I am more drawn to the platinum color as I use the exact same colored lead tape to block out the sight line and it just suits my eye. I just purchased a platinum Redwood Anser in fantastic condition. They are getting harder and harder to come by. This one is never getting away!

Just picked up this Cameron CLN #2. I really like the feel. I have a Tei3 longneck Newport and I like the feel of this better. I love this putter the most because it just looks so cool. It’s in the bag for the time being. It replaces a Studio Style Stainless Newport that has been in the bag this summer. I do like face balanced putters. It is in very good condition. Can anyone tell me the weight of these heads if it is 330g? This feels heavier than my Tei3 long neck. It might just be that the grips are different and this has a lighter grip. It’s hard to find a lot of info on these. I would also be interested in what the finish is.

Very nice! Those heads are 330g and it feels a bit heavier due to the longer neck.

I have a TEI3 Newport 2 Longneck and it weighs 335 grams. I assume a little heavier than 330, due to the longer neck.

Nice looking putter. The weld on the neck could have been a bit neater though...

Thanks Snow, I am very happy to have been given the opportunity to purchase it. This is one of 2 Nitronic SS prototypes built with the mid slant neck. The rest of the Ninja's built will be flow necks. Might have to get one of those next. I like the welding job, a little bit of character adds to it's charm. Waiting patiently for it to arrive.

Just picked up this beat up Kirk Currie from the bay as an experiment. I think it looks awesome and after a few carpet rolls I might be in love.

I hate to pile on but that weld looks poor. I’m not talking about welded necks, in general, just that weld looks poor.

So if you hate doing it why do it? Boy oh boy! The owner already said he liked it. Stay thirsty my friend!

So I just got into golf, and I bought a few putters at Goodwill and off Letgo to try out,

Bettinardi Ben Hogan BHB1-X with Lamkin grip

zeyA3stl.jpg

Nike Ignite 001

TM Rossa Siena4

Odyssey WhiteHot XG Marxman

Dunlop Perfect Line PL-1

I played my first ever round yesterday using the Betty and really liked it, but haven't gotten to try the others.

Personally I wouldn't go past that Ben Hogan Betti.

Beautiful putter right there.

Still mind boggling why that relationship wasn't more successful... I thought Ben Hogan would take off as a company after they joined forces....

Thank you, the Tamiya I picked up online, the Model Master from Hobby Lobby. The Model Master is the best I have ever used, zero bubbles, and dries with a very nice glaze to it without using alcohol.

I bought some Model Masters acrylic last winter, and attempted to use. What method do you use to clean up excess paint? I really struggled with not taking too much paint and having colors run together when trying to wipe/clean it off.

Picked up a Cleveland TFI Satin 2135 Cero. Sold my SC Futura X5r because it was just another putter. Wasn't overly impressed with it and the feel/sound of it. Absolutely loving the Cleveland as it checks all the boxes and it gives me just a little boost of confidence when putting now.

I was skeptical after ordering it but I was pleasantly surprised.

Certainly the toughest part of the job. The first step is trying to get as little overflow as possible when applying. I will fill the area I am paintfilling with a tiny amount of alcohol, and then use a toothpick to put in a small amount of paint, and it will spread quickly due to the alcohol. To clean up excess, I use a paper towel with acetone. The key is to not go back and forth, single passes, and it is good to only swipe an area twice with the same area of paper towel, or else colors collide

It's definitely tough and frustrating. I've watched enough of Anthony Taranto's videos on Instagram and other social media and he looks like he just wipes it all off shortly after applying the paint.
