Just curious, how much money have you made in a match? This could be in a club tournament or just a match set up for your Saturday morning group.

I split $1600 once with a partner in a private event w/a calcutta about 6 years ago (finished 2nd). We were in first until the last card was turned in.

I did make close to 1000 bucks on men’s nights this year. We have a money board posted with skins, deuces etc tracked.

My PB is winning a $320 skin ... the only skin out 1 week after all skins were cut and we carried the money into the next week. 120yd par-3 none the less. I heard a lot of should've, could've and would've that night.

$120 in scramble. Finished second. Two day 36 team. Skins on every hole. After first day I had the only skin. A driveable par 4, just short, then since used my ball went first and promptly chipped in. We finished on a par 3 next day so were one of the first to finish. Stayed around, drank a couple pitchers, and took turns going out to check the board. Last time I went out I hear this "man that guy is going to be pissed." The last group to play hole: first three guys hit it ob, last guy lays up, next three guys miss green, and yeah you already know what happened.....he holed a 7 iron from 150. I come in with major long face and proceed to tell them what happened. Astonishment then laughter. I'm like "don't laugh to hard cause since we were a team I was going to split the skin $ with you" laughter turned to stone faces lol.

 

And what would that skin been worth??? $875.00 waaaaaaaahhhhhh.

I've won as much as $20.00 in matches within a group, counting skins, robins, etc. Much anguished moaning and some really hurtful, bitter comments about my "Dance of Victory". Won some little local, rural tournaments which might net a couple of hundred. The most money I ever won was from buying an unknown team in a Calcutta. They were in last place in championship, then blistered the field on the second day. I paid $70.00 for them, mostly out of pity, they won me six hundred something dollars.

Playing a points game called umbrella things can get out of hand pretty quick if you aren't playing well. Buddy and I got up close to $600 each at the turn, we let them buy out for $450 a piece. Typically we will walk out with $200-$300 in our pockets. Most I have lost at the game is $285-$300, but that doesn't happen too often. Usually we do ok because we don't make bad bets, which is key to good gambling.

 

We got the only skin one time in a four person scramble, which was worth 8k (40 teams 200 a piece into skins 8000 in the kitty). That was nice, it was a hole out eagle on a par 4 which we drove hole high and pitched in.

Hey, that’s exactly what I won today. But I’ve been paying out so much lately it felt like more!

That’s what we play, but do it pretty tamely. We don’t double on Umbi’s (just $10) and no presses.

 

One of the other groups plays it similar to your numbers. They usually press, repress, and then repress again each hole. So an Umbi is $56 for them. Their numbers add up quickly, several hundred dollars changes hands normally. I don’t play with them very often.

$500 is the most. Most nice days were around a $100. The $500 day was were me and my partner had 25 side bets.A little -12 goes a long way. We never go by hole, it's what you shot. So if we had a 65 and you had a 72 that would be 7 bets. Cuts down on having to call out holes.
