I recently cut about 20 balls, I'll see if there are any in my pile that haven't been posted in here.

Do it without checking. Most of GolfWRX is old posts being posted again.

In alphabetical order. I also have some more premium balls (Volvik Matte, TM TP5X, All Bridgestone b330's from 2009+, The new Bridgestone Tour Rx/Bx/Xs, Nike RZN Red, and I think some more but I'm debating cutting those until I use them.)

So here is a previous generation Velocity. Has a lot of filler in the mix . Not sure if that gives it speed or if they are cutting cost to make the ball, or both ?

Could be a weight thing. Years ago, read a piece on ball construction that mentioned one of the bigger challenges in ball research in core materials was keeping the weight up. No idea if that's still the case, but it could account for some of the fillers one sees in some cores. <shrug>

Cut up the following tonight: Nike One Black, Nike One Vapor, Nike 20XI -X(This one was brand new and it hurt me to cut it open...), Nike PD1 Super soft, Titleist Prov1x (new), Titleist Prov1x (older model), Snell MTB, Srixon Z-Star, and all of the Bridgestone 330's since '08. I think I can do all the e6's too tomorrow...

Anyone interested in pics again?

I'd say do it. I really would love to see the was it holy grail 2014 b330(or was is the b330s). I never did get to play those balls because I thought I was not "good" enough to play them and stuck with the RX model. I do like the 2016 B330 and the Tour B X and XS from the Bridgestone lineup.

So in honor of my recently vasectomy, I cut open 2 balls today. Cut Blue and Snell MTB-Red .

Same number of dimples , same dimple pattern, same layer thicknesses , same firmness of the cores (different color of course). I think most would be hard pressed to see any difference in these in a blind test. Enjoy !

Yep - private labeling is common in many industries.

Difference if they are made at the same plant ? Snell has a reputation as a ball designer and can charge more off his name.

All interesting stuff and will be putting both out on the course in 2 weeks for real comparison.

I am really chomping at the bit here to see the mentioned Kirkland "Performance One" ball on the USGA list. It is 338 dimples (same as Cut and Snell) and also 4 pc with 1 core.

What are the odds Costco is making the next KSIG 4 pc at the same plant and same design as these twins?

Just curious. If two balls share same # of dimples and pieces and thickness is same, they are considered exactly same ball?

Or can materials used inside be different?

of course the materials COULD be different . It would be easier to differentiate if compression was vastly different however in the case

of these 2 you can’t tell difference in hardness or feel when cutting them open.

I look forward to playing them side by side and gauge if there is any difference on full swings or spin but everything right now says they are equals.

If I took both balls and held them in each hand and made an OK symbol to where you could only see a quarter of the ball , dimples only and no name showing , you could not tell which was which. Color of the urethane and dimple pattern is same .

Per discussions I've seen on various forums, aerodynamic performance can be altered not insignificantly by a change in the size of dimples that may not be visible to the human eye.

So, not necessarily the same. <shrug>
