Right Hand Taylormade Ardmore 2 - keeps missing left

I have a 35 inch Ardmore 2 (not the red/white with the huge white band) that came stock with the pair of 10 gram weights (which actually weigh 8 grams each). I noticed that I consistently miss left with this putter. If I have a perfect stroke, it will go straight, but the overall bias/tendency is to always miss left. Just to check I wasn't insane, I used my Daddy Long Legs and it doesn't miss left (if anything, I have a tendency to open the face at impact).

I experimented by pulling the weights from the Ardmore 2, and then only using 1 of the 10g weights, it seemed to help straighten it out. I feel if anything, this putter needs more weight because it feels too light. It also seems more upright as well than the typical 70* lie angle.

Any ideas? Has anyone else experienced similar behavior from their Ardmore 2?

I didn't get it because Justin Rose has one, but I went to the WITB page for him and saw that he has a pair of 2.5 gram weights with some lead tape on the bottom of his.

Geoff Mangum and others say that if you are pushing or pulling putts it's generally the lead hand, i.e. coming in to body early instead of holding line straight through. Perhaps try again, this time being super careful to keep your lead hand along your line right through and see what happens? Do some left-hand-only putts a la Dave Stockton and it should reveal whether or not it's a lead hand issue right away. Shoot out your two clubs left-hand-only and see what happens to the results? If they stay consistent perhaps the grip is out by a degree or two, etc. but if they don't then you know it's the lead hand, and you can set about remedying it.

Also... A quote I read on this forum today from user "nosil"... " Given the same stroke more offset generally moves the ball left and less offset generally moves the ball right. So if you are pulling putts try reducing offset. "

Hope that had value, cheers. :golfer:

I wish this were the case! I have an Ardmore 3 Red/White and sure enough, it goes straight or misses slightly right (same as Daddy Long Legs, ER2, etc...)

I went straight back to the Ardmore 2 (red) and it consistently misses left.

It's the putter. Something in how it's weighted, the offset, loft, alignment, etc...

I've put about 8 putters through sam puttlab sessions over the last year. Some just have a more left path bias or more face rotation in the forward stroke.

You can toy with weights. Try a heavier one in the toe. If face rotation is the problem and not path then heavier weight in the toe will help keep the face open longer.
