I was really looking forward to these, and will still check them out, but I can't understand why you would willingly make an iron look that bad. Does it really HAVE to look that way to preserve whatever engineering went in to the design? I'd be shocked if it did.

 

Of course the look in the playing position is much more important, but I really don't get it.

My question is... who do they even pick for their focus group?!? Goodness... I held off buying the 770's for the 790's. Held off on the 790's hoping that the 760's would look better but my goodness, I for sure am giving the i500's a run against my VPCs now.

Ooof, cant believe they diverged from the look of the 700 series that much, they look pretty appalling imo, should have done a slight tweak from the rest of the line, not a major change like that

Exactly what they should it have done. Add on a pre worn leading edge and they sell like wildfire.

Honestly they don't look that bad in person and the performance is really good. I already have decided to split my 730's at the 7 and put 6,5,&4 in the 760s. The way they grinded the leading edge is awesome. I lets the club sit really nice and the way it goes thru the turf really makes the looks seem less important.

when ypu say "goes through the turf" do you mean it cuts like your 730s? if so that could make a big difference

These are god awful and a complete fail in aesthetics compared to the 750 and the 790.

Yes very similar in turf interaction to the 730s. It allowed me to get steeper on the long irons. Which was nice because it really helped hitting the different heights I wanted.

Rep brought these into our shop a few weeks ago. I think everyone is overreacting. Setup view they look really good,and for some reason that picture makes the back look worse than they did in person. Never understood how people judge a club by the way the back of the blade looks. You don't hit the ball with that side.

I’m a car guy. If you can pick between two different sports cars that perform equally well and cost about the same and one of them is pretty and one is butt ugly.....which one do you choose?

That's a bad comparison. You should be less concerned about the looks and more about performance.The point was you can't judge a club what the back of the blade looks like.
